Opium and the Kung Fu Master (1984) - Drunk Monk - 09-15-2015
A great anti-drug propaganda flick from SB studios (seen on El Rey). It stars the mighty Ti Lung, who is the center of several many-on-one fights, several of which loaded with weapon fights - a true testament to his Kung Fu virtuosity. Plus his impression of being stoned is spot on, although his detox scene is way overdone - played out like an over-the-top SB villain death scene (seeing this after DM has dabbled in opium brought a whole new light to it). It also stars my old drinking buddy, Chen Kuan Tai, and the comically cross-eyed Yue Tau Wan in a rare tragic role. Plenty of sword fights, but disappointingly, no hallucination scene.
