Man from UNCLE - Drunk Monk - 08-22-2015

Very typical Ritchie flick - action, bromance, split screens, frantic fight scenes, hotties, prismatic lens flares, but all about the bromance really. Uncle was a classic buddy flick scenario out of the Cold War era. Gotta give him cred for giving the film Kodachrome hues, adding to its vintage feel. I dislike cavill, he's caricature handsome, but like Pine in the 1st jj Star Trek, towards the end I could see how Cavill was working Vaugh's Solo. In the end, it felt like a decent film tribute to the original series, not as epic as Star Trek but far superior to that abysmal Avengers film (steed & peel not marvel). Twas fun and nostalgic as I did enjoy the show back in the day.

This is the origins installment, primed for a sequel. And I'll watch that sequel, if it's convenient.

Ah, Dull. I never felt involved in the story. It seemed like all the pieces were there for a great movie, but the heart wasn't there. For the most part, I was bored.

by chance stacy & i just watched this again.  we both felt we had seen it before but couldn't remember much beyond the beginning. i distinctly remembered the first bathroom fight but little else.  and now i know vikander better because of reviewing tomb raider.  plus the rome scenes were amusing having now been there.  still not a great film, very ritchie, kinda made me long for the original vaugh & mccallum (and i remembered their names without imdbing it).

it does bug me that i remembered so little of seeing this the first time. i've been noticing more memory losses.  the funny thing about memory loss is you don't remember it's gone.  this week i was introduced to a master via email and i thought i met him face-to-face before, but couldn't quite remember. he said we were roommates at an event in vancouver a few years back.  my lawd.  you'd think i'd remember someone i slept beside. in my defense, that was held at a casino resort and i don't really remember spending much time in the room.

Further to your defense, it was a forgettable movie.
