Finding Vivian Maier - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 08-04-2014 Potentially, one of the greatest street photographers of the last century, might just be a nanny who never released a print while she was alive. Her stash of photos were found at the auction of her storage unit. The director of the movie is the man who came across the photos and needed to find out more about this woman who took these amazing photos. He eventually acquired over a hundred thousand negatives of hers and hundreds of rolls of undeveloped film. It was kind of staggering how many photographs Vivian Maier took. The story of her life isn't very sweet, especially towards the end when she descended into mental illness. She didn't have any friends and it's only luck that her story is coming to life. It's a very well done documentary and a very interesting story. Great freakin marketing - Drunk Monk - 02-01-2015 The best since The Interview really. You find some nice pix in a random auction sale. Well, tens of thousands of pix. You pull out some nice ones. You make a documentary about it all to increase their value. Okay, okay, those were some really super nice pix. Mindblowingly good actually. But I still got to hand it to the pixfincer/documentary-maker for his marketing savvy. I watched this because Greg and tg were talking it up at DOOMXMAS. It needed a swordfight. |
