Gen Y Cops (2000) - Drunk Monk - 03-17-2006

When Quentin Tarantino puts his name on a Chinese import, it's usually worth checking out. When Jackie Chan does, that's a totally different scenario. The sequel to Gen X Cops (which I didn't see) almost had me thinking it was worthy of a DOOM showing until about half way through and the drugs wore off. It's a weird satire of the stylish HK young cop dramas, complete with a goofy pair of clown cops, HK cops vs. FBI, a robocop terminator robot called 'the robot RX1', bad cgi, a couple ok kung fu scenes, a cool cop, a hottie cop, lots of nerd cops, a jamaican dope dealer, a hallucination that involves a drunk in a giant lobster costume, balletic gunplay, lots of explosions and shattering of glass, computer nerds who save the day, an awesome kung fu hacker skatepunk villain, a very predictable ending, lots of caught-in-machine-gunfire dances, and no nudity. There was probably more, but I still wouldn't recommend this. Once I figured out the lobster, the rest of the film just came apart at the seams.

It's always the Lobster - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 03-17-2006

It sounded very clear and straight forward. I'll reccommend it to the parents for when they are in Palm Springs.

I have my own police force? That's awesome! Where can I get one of the shoulder patches? Plus we go up against the FBI? Wow. Nervy, I'll say that for my boys. I wonder if we survive. I won't watch, though. Too scared of the lobster.
