RIP Iain Banks and Iain M. Banks - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 06-19-2013

One of the best of the modern Space Opera authors. He always had a wild imagination to go with a very good turn of phrase an good character building. He sprinkled in politics with a light hand.

He was one of those rare authors that I would really like to have met and talked with (Scalzi is another). His book on whiskey was brilliant, personal, and quite funny. It was a road-trip book, he was about our age, so there was a lot to identify with.

As a writer of straight fiction, he was also quite good. His book "Crow Road" is one of my faves.

He was diagnosed with a very late stage cancer last Winter and died this past Spring.
