Sherlock Holmes: masterpiece theater - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 05-01-2012

Set your DVR's. Sherlock Holmes returns this Sunday on PBS for another epic length 3 series run.

I don't have a DVR - Drunk Monk - 05-01-2012

I guess I'll have to tune in. Luv that show.

Ooooooh! On it! Thanks!

While I did enjoy last night's Sherlock... - Drunk Monk - 05-07-2012

...I must say the final sword sequence really bothered me. The sword was a Hanwei Dadao - actually a piece that I own - completely inaccurate for some middle-eastern terrorists. These kinds of things drive me nuts, mostly because I can't get over such a trivial glitch and I know it's just me that is bothered by it. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the new villainess. Very entertaining overall, until that sword bit.

They could have been in China.

It was really good. It had a great sense of style. I really like the cinematography and the digital overlays.

Now, if she only had boobs.

I think I might have to reread the original stories to get a gander at the source material.

Liked it.

Been thinking the same thing - Drunk Monk - 05-08-2012

I heard the next two are Hound of Baskervilles and Reichenbach Falls, both of which I remember pretty well. I didn't remember Scandal that well. Did you notice how 'the woman' was in red letters in scattered through the credits?

Re: Sherlock Holmes: masterpiece theater - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 05-08-2012

I did not.

The preview for next week did show Hound of the Baskervilles.

most disappointing episode so far and not because of the swo - Drunk Monk - 05-14-2012

...but did my ears catch a snatch of the monty python theme when sherlock went into the 'palace'?

Re: Sherlock Holmes: masterpiece theater - The Queen - 05-14-2012

Didn't catch that, but I thought I heard a bit of the radio theme music from Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy when they were in the car in the way to Baskerville.

Feh - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 05-15-2012

It was a pretty weak episode. How long do we need to run around the lab trying to escape from the monster? It seemed like forever. They really need to work on the Moriarty storyline.

It had a few moments that were good but I kept waiting for something tricky or clever to happen and it didn't.

Next week is the Reichenbach Falls episode which, if memory serves, is the one where Sherlock suffers mightily.

Missed the Hitchhiker's theme - Drunk Monk - 05-15-2012

I was amused about how they played with the original story. The original starts mostly with Watson because Holmes is elsewhere, and in the show, it looked like they were headed in that direction for a moment. The penetration of Baskerville was way too absurd for me. The Moriarity hallucination was too 'Yoda tells Luke to go in the cave' for me. You know how critical I am about hallucinations. I'm very judgmental when it comes to hallucinations and sword fights. It felt like a lot of set up for Reichenbach, which is an absolutely pivotal chapter in the Holmes saga.

I was doing the pirates of the internet high seas thing and watched them all when they came out in the UK about 5-6 months ago (?). I'm keeping mum (and I don't mean in the British sense), but I am enjoying reading your feedback and am curious to see how you take the next one...

Re: Sherlock Holmes: masterpiece theater - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 05-20-2012

Liked it. Too cute with the identity make-over, though. Also, Molly could have shown the cops the steps of chemical analysis that were done to support his conclusion. Overall, a ton o fun, though.

Re: Sherlock Holmes: masterpiece theater - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 05-22-2012

Molly was just Sherlock's dupe!!

Time to be sad for the next eleven months until they dole out the next round of three and the explanation of how they did what they did.

Did it ever explain why Moriarty has such a hard-on for Sherlock? I don't remember Sherlock ever thwarting Moriarty in the series so far unless I've forgotten something. This is quite possible.

This episode was much better than Baskerville. I liked the fact the painting Sherlock recovered looks like the cover of the original story for Reichenbach falls.

I'm also anxious to see how the new CBS drama 'Elementary' with Lucy Liu as Jane Watson will compare to this show. My estimation is poorly.
