Reamde by Neal Stephenson - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 11-08-2011

Wow is this book long. Maybe too long.

But it was enjoyable. It almost should be in the Thriller category than the Sci Fi section. Much like the Baroque should be in the bored me to tears section.

The Reamde of the title is a virus, a virus that infects the computers using a World of Warcraft style game. The story is about what happens when that virus corrupts the wrong persons computer. It's a global spanning book, from the streets of Xiamen to the wilds of Idaho. It has tons of action and I do mean tons. Some of the set pieces go on for hundreds of pages.

Towards the end of the book, it did become a bit of a page turner, but a lot of the time it was a case can I just get through this. Didn't I mention the book was long? But it all does fit together. Looking back, I don't think I every felt much tension in the book, fear for the characters or suspense about what was going to happen. But it was well written.
