Science 101 - cranefly - 10-21-2011

Today's subject is Titanium.

Lady Cranefly pointed me to this one (she's a science writer at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory).

Re: Science 101 - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 10-21-2011

Who knew science was so easy? And if it had a beat, you could dance to it?

Re: Science 101 - cranefly - 10-23-2011

Not as crotchety as we'd all prefer, but...

Re: Science 101 - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 12-13-2011

Sadly we are going to the BBC to get news about scientific break-throughs happening on our own shores. Meanwhile, local news is full of important Kardashian updates.

Headline: God particle cornered

Just what we need
a panicked, vicious God
foaming at the mouth
doing deals with the devil
for salvation.

Re: Science 101 - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 12-15-2011

Yeah, turns out it's been hiding in the back office with cold fusion and a perpetual motion machine.

Re: Science 101 - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 12-15-2011

Is it stored next to the unobtanium?

Re: God Particle Cornered - cranefly - 12-15-2011

Lady Cranefly keeps score at the most miniscule of poker tables.

Re: Science 101 - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 12-15-2011

I thought the world was supposed to be sucked into a black hole once the Large Hadron collider fired up. What happened?

Re: Science 101 - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 12-15-2011

The world *was* destroyed by a huge black hole.

Re: Science 101 - The Queen - 12-15-2011

Dr. Ivor Yeti Wrote:The world *was* destroyed by a huge black hole.

That would explain a lot.

International Space Station viewing - cranefly - 09-12-2013

There's two upcoming opportunities to see the International Space Station at greater than magnitude -3.
This is mostly for insomniacs.

Sept. 13, 6:21 am at magnitude -3.1
Sept. 14, 5:34 am at magnitude -3.2

On both occasions it will appear to the southwest and move overhead to disappear to the northeast.

Sorry for the late notice.

Special note to Greg: Sept. 13 is not available to you, but Sept. 14 will be good, though only -2.8 down there. That's still pretty bright.
