Break - Drunk Monk - 07-14-2009
This is a little indie martial arts film that's painful to watch. It stars Xin Wuku, a tricker who is really talented, but there's no one of any skill for him to fight so the fights are horrid. The film is trying to have this ponderous style where actors give pregnant pauses before delivering every predictable line. Hit that fast forward and hurry! In the end, I'm not even sure what it was all about.
But it's worthy of note for one reason. There's a cameo of Carradine, one of his final performances, as this eccentric weapons dealer. He appears in a silky robe ala Caine surrounded by contortionists, topless doms and a kinky bald dwarf. Given the nefarious way that Carradine checked out, it's a very bizarre epitaph.
