The Crow - thatguy - 10-01-2008

Yeah, I'd never seen it. I knew the behind the scenes story and that they had to figure out how to complete the file after Brandon's death. I know several people who really like it, but I found it really confused. The Jimi Hendrix scene for instance...I noticed a few similarities to "The Dark Knight", like when Brandon confronts all the bad guys at the big conference table. The (I'm guessing) goths in the film seemed really contrived. It made me think of early 80's shows depicting punks, like this:

The soundtrack had this occasional saxophone that just seemed out of place with the rest of the movie.

Does anyone know how many movies have been completed when the main actor died in mid-production? I know that's the case with the upcoming Terry Gilliam movie "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" with Heath Ledger.

Brainstorm is one that comes to mind. Natalie Wood died and she still had a couple of days left of filming.

Plan 9 from Outer Space...Legosi died and they had a taller stand-in who kept his face covered by a cape.

It's what the internet is for....

(Apparently Bela died before Plan 9. The footage was something else completely and Ed Wood threw it into Plan 9)

(I particularly like the comment: "Keanu Reeves in most of his films")

Re: The Crow - El Dingo - 10-02-2008

I really liked the comic back in the day, however, quoting comic books word-for-word rarely works on film (V for Vendetta being an exception).

The score is by Grahme Revell and I like to listen to it now and then. It actually stands better on its own as an alt-rock instrumental album than a movie score.
