386: interviews in the morning & evening & over to my mom’s late tonight because she has an in-house check up first thing tomorrow. I hit a writing wall yesterday and wasn’t nearly as productive as I would’ve liked so today is catch up.

387: My mom’s appt got changed to 10 today so I didn’t go over and will face the commute very soon, something I haven’t done in a year. Then it’s writing like usual - lots of pieces on the desk with deadlines - and mom chores.

Today I sliced off a sliver of my cheek while shaving. I thought I had mastered this razor but must have moved a muscle at the wrong time or let my attention wander.

Srsly tho, what kind of razor do you use? I use disposables (I don't have much to shave - not as hirsut). I went through a dumb teen phase when I used a straight razor because I thought it would teach me how to use a blade better. It did but I never got any good at it.

Not too big a chunk, about as wide as a fingernail clipping and maybe 3/8in long, but when you slice off the top layer of skin it bleeds a lot and takes forever to stop.
I use the Leaf razor. I got it back in January. I chose it for environmental reasons. It's an all metal razor, and you just put in bare blades (3) so no plastic waste. You collect the old blades in a can, and when it's full you can mail it back to them for recycling. They also use all paper packaging. It's a pivoting razor like most nowadays, but unlike my last razor (Harry's) you can really chop into yourself if the angle is wrong on the edge of your jaw etc. The razor is expensive, but it will eventually wind up cheaper since 50 blades are $12 (so that's under $1 for each replacement set, vs. about $2 for the Harry's cartridge) and I only change them about once a month (although 3 weeks might be better). I only shave 4x a week because it seems like such a waste of time to do it every day, even though I probably should.

That's a cool looking razor. I shave once or twice a week. A disposable lasts me for months.

Now my fb feed is all about razor ads (starting with that leaf).
I suppose that's better than all the paramilitary gear and diabetes ads that usually fills my fb feed.

390: Today is a Geek day - got 2 features for Yasuke (just got the transcripts back), 2 for Mortal Kombat (awaiting transcripts) and an interview for another short piece for their upcoming print editing after lunch. Plus I got a KFM feature to put together on LK Swords - I owe them big time - 4 awesome blades and another on the way? I will champion their cause. Wanna buy a sword?
This will be my weekend.
