Sounds like what I had. My ex and my friend Dino both used the exercises to recalibrate.

My urologist and I sat down to watch a movie today.  I didn't know what type.  I was pretty sure it wouldn't be a comedy.  Thriller?  Mystery?  Horror?  I did ask him beforehand if he would mind removing the viewfinder first.  That cost extra, he said.  So I paid the extra buck, he removed it, then he shoved that camera up the old urethra and the feature began.

The prostate was the main character and highly suspect as the villain.  He's a bit constricted, but not too evil.  Nothing that would explain my near total inability to void.  And my PSA number remains small, unlike three other individuals the urologist saw this month with elevated levels and clear evidence of cancer.  In an aside, the flights to and from Orlando were a total nightmare for me, and LCF and I came back early, skipping the splashdown party on the 20th.  But back to the main feature, the urethra looked all veiny and blood-gorged, but that's apparently the way it's supposed to look.  All in all, the feature turned out to be a mystery.  I'm still guessing that the bladder did it, but the urologist is still suspecting the urethra.  He has scheduled me to have it scraped out, after which it will have to grow a new lining.  The procedure is like rotorooting a drain, only for this they use a much bigger snake.

In the meantime, there's concern that my urine is backing up into my kidneys.  I just got a blood test to check that.  Awaiting results.  And tomorrow I go back in for another void test.  If I don't do well, it's catheter time again until the surgery.

As for the surgery, it can't even be scheduled yet.  Covid has created a large backlog.  They'll let me know when they can squeeze me in.  A guestimate is 4 to 6 weeks.

That seems a long time to deal with a catheter.  Then again, I suppose I better be preparing myself for the possibility of wearing one permanently.

What a pisser.

As if I need to say this.  Not DOOM recommended.

At least you get to walk to the doctor on new hips!

Good luck, my friend. I wish you the best.

That was one of the most uncomfortable post reads in recent memory.

Hope things get better for you soon. Heal strong brother and let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.

With my new hips, I am not allowed to cross my legs.  That could lead to a dislocation.

To compensate, I'm devoting myself to making everyone else cross their legs.

So there!

RE: I'm more broken than you - Greg - 09-23-2021

Thanks?

Is that forever on the leg crossing or only until they've healed?

RE: I'm more broken than you - Drunk Monk - 09-23-2021

I’m crossing the hell out of my legs. My legs are crossed af.

Now just you heal up so we can move on...

RE: I'm more broken than you - Greg - 09-23-2021

Tell me more about the reaming out of the urethra!

The web has a lot to say about that.  If you filter out all the unprofessional opinions and just go with what the orthopedists and surgeons say, well, they all disagree.  It's stunning.  Some say it depends on the entry incision, where anterior is best -- according to some.  Some even say there's no restrictions whatsoever from the get-go.  Others favor posterior or lateral, but with different opinions on precautions.  In a nutshell, I don't know, and it's very annoying.

I think my surgeon suggested I would be fine doing martial arts moves that are sane.  He did point out that yoga has some pretzel postures that put unnatural stress on the hips and ought not be done.

I'm going to back off on these TMI posts "real soon now."
But not quite yet.  So assume the position, forbidden to me for now (and maybe ever).

So yesterday as follow-up I go in to see the nurse, and she has me hit the restroom, and I have a good void.  And I'm hopeful.  If I'm under 350 ml retention, I'm in the clear.  Otherwise, catheterization.

So the nurse lubricates my tummy and does the ultrasound, and I still have 550 ml in me.  WTF!  Not even close.  So the nurse tells me I need to be catheterized.  But then she throws me a curve.  If I don't want a bag, I can learn to catheterize myself.  Is that really a thing?  Well, yes it is.  She gives me a pamphlet and leaves me alone to read it, and by the time she comes back I'm convinced.  Yeah, let's do this.  What swayed me was the idyllic photo on the pamphlet cover of the mature lady sitting under a rose bush smelling a rose and smiling like she was in nirvanna.  So the nurse provides a tube and lubricant and walks me through the process, and though it takes a while, because I'm a bit tentative with the entry, finally I struck oil.  The gusher produces the 550 ml she had seen.

I did it!  All by myself.  I'm so proud of myself.  She didn't even have to hold my penis.

So now I got a bunch of tubes, and lube, and I'll be doing this 4 times a day for the foreseeable future.  At least until the surgery 4 to 6 weeks out.

And what are those exactly?

Bummer. As my ol' RM guru Raz used to say "not even the courtesy of a reach around"

No worries on the TMI post, brother. We're here for you however winceworthy your posts are. Let it flow...
