Bees - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 09-30-2007 Sorry. No bum knees or bad backs. I do have a strange tingling in my left quad, but when it goes numb I don't think about it. There is a certain spot on the path where we walk the dogs that the yellow jackets congregate. I don't know why. There isn't an abundance of flowers for them to polinate. There isn't any rotting meat for them to eat. Maybe when they put in the new gate, they built the bee condo as well. Preston is the one that gets stung the most. I've had to pull two YJ off him. But we've learned to move quickly through the area to avoid their ire. So, the Queen announced that Preston had been stung again after quite along time, I thought snidely too myself, I'd never let that happen. All you have to do is make them run as soon as they get their leashes off. Right. Silly Queen. With the Queen out of town, I have the night duty walks. I knew how to walk the dogs passed the bees and it was the longer walk. I'd show the Queen. As soon as we got in the gate, I immediately took off the leashes and hollared for the dogs to run. They took off like a shot. Job well done. I strolled after them, not a care in the world until I felt the sharp sting under my arm. I lifted my arm to spot a YJ in my armpit. Sigh. Irony is a Bitch isn't it? Or comeuppance? Or being brought down a peg. The rash is about the size of a silver dollar and is quite painful. But the dogs are okay and that's the important part. - thatguy - 10-24-2007 Dr. Ivor Yeti Wrote:When is Kevin moving back up here? Sorry, I didn't reply to this earlier. I'm not sure if he will be moving back up here. But according to the SC club forum, he's up this week, fencing tonight. Dennis Le is also in town for the week, so should be some good fencing! --TG They cut another bit off my face - Drunk Monk - 11-26-2007 It was this weird sore that wouldn't go away. I thought it was a zit or something. Every once in a while, it would flake off. But it always came back. Had it since Mother's Day. A dermatologist cut it off and sent it to the lab to make sure it wasn't cancerous. Funny thing is that he remembered me from removing a wart off my wrist some four years ago. Dm sticks out in Fremont. Mother's Day was the start of my downfall. That's when I had the pink eye. It made me sensitive to my declining vision, which messed up my posture and exacerbated my cervical arthritis. Compensating for that elicited my tennis elbow. The tennis elbow is a pretty classic case - the PT exercises seem to help there. I've been training, once or twice a week, with staff, spear and kwandao, but those are all two handed. I feel the best during moments in practice - probably just endorphin rushes, but I've been an endorphin junkie for years, so it seems silly to stop now, especially since it's the only pain free moments of my life nowadays. I did some sweeping a week ago with a short, one-handed broom like I used to use at the Quad and re-injured my elbow. It sucks not having my sword arm working. I miss it. My PT gave up on my arthritis, and now I'm being referred to a spine clinic. The coming of winter has me very intimidated. The arthritis doesn't like cold. Fortunately, I've amassed a good collection of scarves over the years. This has been the hardest year of my life physically, harder than the pneumonia, harder than the pneumothorax, harder than the tinnitus. - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 12-05-2007 Hey, it only gets worse! I've had surgery on both knees and they still are stiff and hurt by the end of the working evening. I need me a desk-job! Smackdown!! - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-31-2008 Meralgia Paresthetica!!!! I've got it. And you don't. So HA!. I think. I should never have gone in for a checkup. Wiki! - Haggis Killer - 01-31-2008 Could ya love wikipedia any more? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meralgia_paraesthetica wait a second! - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-31-2008 If you look it up and find out what it means, I don't look so cool. The treatment: Lose Weight, loser. M R I - Drunk Monk - 02-13-2008 My MRI showed mild/moderate Neural Foraminal Narrowing on C5-6. It is not at the point that might require surgery. It's just at the point of grin and bear it. Preston Speaks - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 02-13-2008 The Doctor said I could get an MRI for Preston to find out what's wrong with his spine. Pass. I settled on Muscle Relaxants and Pain Pills. I think we got something for the dog, too. Be sure to get the good drugs - The Queen - 03-07-2008 Just a little helpful tip, in case I'm not the last one on earth to realize this. I'm having fun with a little cold/flu thing. As you probably know, over-the-counter stuff on the cold medicine shelves in the store no longer contain pseudophedrine - preventing would-be meth makers from using the local drugstore shelves as a way to stock up. Unfortunately, the by-product of that is that the new formulas for anything that is stocked on the shelves is that it doesn't do much to reduce your cold/flu symptoms. Waste of money and time. What I didn't realize until recently is that they still make the "good" stuff, you just have to ask the pharmacist for it, and give them your address and drivers license number (I assume so that they have a list of suspects for meth labs?). Got the real drugs and am feeling a WHOLE lot better. Doens't make it go away of course, but at least I can breathe and sleep. - El Dingo - 03-23-2008 No wonder you're broken: Karate Chop Meralgia Paresthetica Redux - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 04-13-2008 Okay, first it was a joke problem with the big name. So, I had a little numbness in my thigh. Big Deal. Guess what happens when the numbness goes away. It's replaced with pain. I remember vaguely the doctor mentioning that but what did I care? My leg was numb. No longer. Now, it's on fire. Guess what exacerbates it? Standing at a plan bench all day. Grrr. You would think building a church would get me a little penalty cred. Not so much. - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 04-14-2008 Hmmmm...a little circular-saw accident and it is free gov'mint money and only phantom pain to deal with. Whaddaya say? The End of Angels and Demons - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 07-25-2008 The painters needed a single man lift to paint the high spots on the front wall around the altar. I made a deal with the electricians to borrow theirs. The wall to be painted sat on a little platform about six inches high. The single man lift weighs a lot so when it's fully vertically extended it won't tip over. I grabbed some of my propmakers to help lift it the six inches onto the deck. The propmaker in the middle decided to lift the man lift by the batter charger/battery combo. It probably weighs about a hundred and fifty pounds. For ease of lifting the battery Charger/ battery combo is locked to the lift itself. It's just hanging on some steel hooks on the back. This allows you to lessen the load of the man lift when you are moving it. But if you are to try to lift the man lift by the battery charger, it merely comes off the hooks. If you are not careful and do not know this, you will probably drop the rather heavy charger. The man lifting by the battery charger did not know this leading to him dropping the battery charger. My toes interceded on the floors behalf against the dropping charger. Yes, I did the little hop dance fuck don't swear I hope my toes ain't broke glissade. They are quite the vivid color. But they are not broken. The moral of the story, I was laid off from my job. - El Dingo - 07-25-2008 That's what you get for dissing Yahweh. Get thee to a Nunnery! |
