One of our Kung Fu sisters, Linda here in the Cruz, has her hips done a few years ago. Recovery was quick. She was pleased with the results. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to support you through this.

Good luck, my friend. The thing I hear from replacement surgery is why did they wait so long? Plus, when we melt you down for parts we are going to make bank on the titanium.

Just a quick note. If all goes according to schedule, I'll be getting the right hip done on May 5.
The left hip will be done 5+ weeks later, depending on healing and scheduling.
Oh, and I've requested installing the optional catalytic converter as part of the artificial hip.
So be sure to harvest that in addition to the titanium when the time comes.

Regarding my Russian surgeon, according to his bio, he's treated trauma victims in Tajikistan, USSR, at altitudes over 13,000 feet and participated in taking care of wounded soldiers during the Afghanistan war.

Just before you go under, cf, tell your surgeon "Aikido is fake or it would work in MMA"
Extra points if you can squeeze "Kiss my Kung Fu ass" in before the anesthesia hits.

Aikido is fake? I remember hearing stories about how the inventor beat experts in various other disciplines. (I am suddenly recalling hearing something about it one day while working at ACWLP.) Did he make that crap up? First Lobsang Rampa was fake and now this?

Of all the martial arts, aikido has fared the worst in MMA. It originated as a method for an unarmed person to ward off sword attacks. And there are no swords allowed in MMA.
I’ve never studied aikido. I read O-sensei and his son (who’s name I can’t remember right now and am not going to bother looking up) and found them both brilliant in their philosophy and approach. My grand uncle practiced aikido and showed me some redirection tricks when we toured Mexico (my high school graduation present from my grandfather).
