RE: Netflix trailers - thatguy - 09-26-2022

Has anyone read The Three-Body Problem trilogy? It's coming to Netflix next year as a series.

RE: Netflix trailers - Greg - 09-26-2022

I read about half of the book and lost interest.

RE: Netflix trailers - thatguy - 09-26-2022

It has a lot of buzz, but from what I've seen in the trailer and some book reviews, seems kinda boring/nothing new...

RE: Netflix trailers - Drunk Monk - 09-26-2022

Been tracking the 3-body problem since 2006 - https://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?69592-The-Three-Body-Problem.

Haven't read it. I picked it up at a bookstore once, leafed through it, and put it back on the shelf.

But I'm obligated to tune in...

RE: Netflix trailers - cranefly - 09-27-2022

Just to clarify, it's a single novel, not a trilogy.  But I see where Amazon packages it with two other novels by Cixin Liu, so it's easy to get that impression--compounded by the title containing three.

You saw my review where DM pointed.  I'll just add that it's in the vein of Golden Age SF, very off-the-wall science ideas, and where an individual can single-handedly invent amazing things.

RE: Netflix trailers - Greg - 09-27-2022

I thought 3-Body was the first book in a trilogy? I'm pretty sure it won the Hugo, as well.

And so I stand corrected.  Sort of.

Quote:The Three-Body Problem is a science fiction novel written by the Chinese writer Liu Cixin. The title refers to the three-body problem in orbital mechanics. It is the first novel of the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy, but the whole series is normally referred to as The Three-Body Problem.

I haven't read the second or third books.

Cabinet of Curiosities - Greg - 09-30-2022

Blockbuster (2022) - Greg - 10-07-2022

Blockbuster

From the makers of Brooklyn-99. Could be funny or just tragic.

It's got Melissa Fumero, so that's a plus. She's also in Mindy Kaling's Velma.

RE: Netflix trailers - Greg - 10-07-2022

Melissa Fumero is also a plus. As is Randall Park.
