I needed a better photographer - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 10-03-2006

So there would be less ass and more Beyonce. See what happens when you let other people take the photos!

I just had lunch with Lou and Scott - Drunk Monk - 11-07-2006

Lou Reed and Scott Scott Richman (Executive Director, Marketing, AOL Media Networks). We had dim sum. But I didn't wear my power suit. I wore my power leather jacket. After all, it was Reed. I don't think I've donned that jacket since I worked the Bammies.

There was a strange pre-lunch moment before we met them at the Four Seasons where I ran into some old tour friends who were working for the Stones. One friend was looking after Keith's room. Another had obviously been up all night tripping and was really impressed when I left with Lou. It's been an odd day.

Now i understand why you stood us up at LB's 40th B-Day party; too busy hanging out with your new rock and roll friends!

Figures - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 11-12-2006

You have noticed the whole referring to himself in the third person, haven't you. Next it's going to be gold chains, rolexes and a diamond grill. Pushing phat whips, don't you know.

Lou did call the next day... - Drunk Monk - 11-13-2006

He wanted DM to come up again the following day because DM told him he watched his new Tai Chi DVD on a mediocre stereo. He wanted DM to listen to it on his manager's laptop, which is fully loaded acoustically. DM had a lot on his desk and blew Lou off. DM regretted that later in the day when he cleared his desk. But yeah, DM stood up Lou too.

As for LBBP40, sorry to disappoint. Well, not that sorry. It would have been great to honor brother LBBP, but the timing was just not working for DM. It's the weekend of DM's cub's b-day too (waaaaay too many scorpios in DM's life) and all attention was given to keeping her healthy since she was coming down with a cold and had a large party agenda (as the twig is bent, so grows the tree). The notion of HK meeting LBBP et.al. without DM's presence was amusing. Syl understood DM was just making arrangements.

And DM will honor LBBP's passage into the fourth decade in his own private way, as soon as the nacho cheese shipment arrives.

Heard back from Lou - Drunk Monk - 11-16-2006

Apparently Lou Reed thinks that DM really knows music. That's ironic since DM is only marginally familiar with Reed's work, mostly by reference.

DM feels almost as honored as when RZA called out from stage 'I see my nigga Gene in the house!' One of RZA's niggas and one of Reed's music authorities. Yeah baby, you all should treasure my contributions to the music forum.

I feel Blessed - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 11-16-2006

We all know the truth :toimonster:

My master just gave me an O-Mei robe - Drunk Monk - 01-08-2007

It's a dark navy full-length robe. Looks sort of like what a Taoist priest might wear. It's made from traditional polyester. With my current hairdo, when I wear it I look like I just walked off the set of a Shaw Brothers movie.

Take Picture - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-08-2007

I don't really listen to much Lou.

But I listen to a hell of a lot of John Cale. Can you ask Lou for John's phone number?

Also - Can I get Lou's email address? I have some pictures to share!

Thank you!

DM name change - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-09-2007

I'm thinking it should be the Chin! And it's so close to his last name.

I just met Adam - Drunk Monk - 01-25-2007

That's Adam Savage. The Mythbuster. They're doing a special on ninja myths that's scheduled to be aired in April. I'll let you know.

Adam spent about two hours here. We took him on a short tour and outfitted him with lots of ninja gear. He was very approachable and entertaining, actually a little more low key than I would have expected from the show. It was all improv, although we did do occasional second takes of things said that came off well. Turns out he's a fan of kung fu cinema so we had a a lot to chat about off camera. I also got to complain to him about the explosive-porta-potty episode because it traumatized my kid (she had nightmares about that and still has some porta-potty issues, but who doesn't?) I was one of the two people that escorted him, so there's a good chance there will be footage of me on this episode.

Have I used up my 15 minutes yet? I think so. And then some.

Mythbusters - Haggis Killer - 01-25-2007

Love that show. I'll be looking for you.

- Dr. Ivor Yeti - 01-28-2007

I really like that show, but they blew it on the "sword cutting sword" bit from their "movie myths" show. I sent them an e-mail about it, but have not received an answer or a secret decoder ring.

I asked him about that. - Drunk Monk - 01-28-2007

Well, I asked him about what other martial arts things they did and he gave me a run down on the sword tests. I don't have cable, so I've only seen a few episodes.

I liked Adam. When they first got there, he stayed in the car and his crew - a coordinator, a sound person and a film person - came in first to stake the joint. They were all very friendly and delightful. The Adam came in and we walked around looking at ninja stuff and talking about it. We gave him a shopping cart and started loading items in, piece by piece, joking about them, then taking them all out because all our freaking ninja gear is illegal in CA. I brought him into the Chinese section after that to show him the wacky stuff. We comped him a ninja suit to put on Jamie, plus a lot of other gear, and told him to come back any time. They've promised us full credit in the show, and Adam dropped our name several times in our his riffing about. He loved our ninja patch.

I looking forward to selling a lot of these. Get one now and you'll be hella cool when the show comes out. Confusedmt047
