RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - King Bob - 02-15-2025 Denny's? There aren't even any near there. The only one I know is out on Blossom Hill. RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Greg - 02-15-2025 Saratoga at 280. RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Greg - 02-15-2025 The house is empty again RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Greg - 02-16-2025 Today, the locksmith returns to open two more locked boxes. I'm sure there is treasure inside these cases (Narrator: There was no treasure)(Anticipatory post) I'm hiring a real estate agent. I'm sending letters to the money people to see how we get the money. I'm going to spend some time in the garage throwing more stuff out. We interviewed another estate liquidator yesterday. After her fee, she figured we would get about $3K for the contents of the house. That was disheartening and it wasn't what Antarctic Sister wanted to hear. Need to figure out how to sell the really valuable Steinbeck books. There are only a couple. Also need to figure out to sell the Squash Blossom jewelry. That's the only jewelry left worth any money. The hunt continues for the missing silverware. I think someone walked out with it. My nephew got prices on our two cars. One is worth nothing. The other is worth about $7K. But I'm balking at selling it because it was my father's car and he loved that car. It was his first Cadillac for which he paid cash. Doing that was a symbol to him that he had made it. It feels weird to sell the car. A lot feels weird now. RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Greg - 02-16-2025 The silverware was in the locked case. The locked hope chest wasn't locked. Just needed to push in on the lock. We discovered this after the locksmith locked the case. RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Greg - 02-16-2025 And some days when you dig through stuff, you find your Grandfather's original WWII diaries. RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Drunk Monk - 02-16-2025 Score on the silverware & diaries (although the diaries would’ve been helpful earlier). RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Greg - 02-20-2025 More family removal stories. My cousin from Massachusetts has come by and has been a PITA. She wanted to show me things all around the house she found and thought I would like or nonAntarctic Sister would like. Please, I've been through everything in the house. Plus, in their help cleaning they left crap everywhere around the house. thatGuy came by to get my mom's car checked out for potential sale. It was going great until found out the car needs about $4000 in repairs. I finally removed my nemesis the Stair Lift that I have since the day I first saw it in the house. The chair itself is in the basement, intermittently chirping as its battery dies. The removal was also a PITA because the aluminum were not in a mood to come apart. Lots of swearing. All the swearing. Plus, I had cousin popping out every ten minutes to ask what she could do to help. RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Drunk Monk - 02-21-2025 PITA or PITS? RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 02-21-2025 Why are cousins still there? RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Greg - 02-21-2025 Because I'm dealing with my mother's curse, obviously. Or.... They had made plans to visit Fresno coincidentally at the same time as the funeral. They had plans to spend a couple days with my mother while enroute to Fresno. My cousin's husband has relatives in Fresno and he was shepherding his parents to visit his Aunt and Uncle in Fresno. They are heading to Santa Cruz today. I should have them stop in at Chez Seabright. In more WTF news, my cousin threw out the salt since it was beyond its sell by date. Salt doesn't go bad, dammit. RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Greg - 02-21-2025 Signing papers at the lawyer. Signing papers with the real estate agent. Things are getting very serious. RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Greg - 02-23-2025 And some days you find a letter from Olivia de Havilland among your mother's files.... What does it say? A cease & desist? RE: Lynch Castle Estate Stories. - Greg - 02-23-2025 Ms. De Havilland apologized for not answering the questions my mother had sent as part of an interview and didn't know when she would be able to get to them. |
