RE: John Wick 4 - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 06-18-2023

Well, now, that was pretty darn fun. The Lance Reddick tributes were good. The Warriors homage was excellent. The Berlin nightclub scene was patterned after a famous techno-club that H has been to. Adkins was hysterical as a Brit chewing the scenery as a faux German. The Russians were very Russian (Russian Gypsies, I reckon).

The fights were great, the real actors (McShane, Skarsgaard, Fishburne, Sanada, Yen) made all the difference. I wonder how different the China cut is from the US cut? I noticed that Yen's "daughter" was higher up in the credits than Rina, and Rina had a huge part. She was also very good.

So, very good action film. Could have been a bit shorter, though.

Was it not a Perfect Film, Captain Killjoy?

RE: John Wick 4 - Greg - 11-26-2023

I might have some thoughts, Lieutenant Easilyamused.

RE: John Wick 4 - Greg - 11-26-2023

I actually did find Radio Wuxia funny and wondered if anyone else caught it.

I am ready to be pilloried and mocked for my views.

This film was way too long. I almost balked when I saw the run time was almost three hours. In most of the overlong fight scenes my attention started to wander. It's like are we still going around the Arc De Triomphe? How many times do you need to show a guy getting hit by a car? Although I am curious what CGI magic they used to do that shot. I can't imagine them closing down the Arc to film that sequence.

I am tired of the illogic of the bullet proof three piece suits. I am tired of them shielding their heads by holding up a part of that jacket. Kevlar stops penetration. It does nothing to ameliorate the impact. So getting hit in the head by a bullet would be like getting hit in the head with a really powerful hammer. Why doesn't everybody be like tracker and just shoot at John Wick from a distance? Why do they all have to rush him?

What was the point of the chase in the desert at the beginning? If that scene was cut would anybody notice?

I really liked the overhead shot fight with the dragon's breath bullets in the villa on the way to sacre Couer, although it looked like it was out of a video game. I liked that big guys are seen as powerful(I'm looking at you, too, King Pin) . I'm amazed the Dilbert guy did those great stunts. But again, when is this fight going to end? I have things to do.

Why didn't somebody get some medical attention for poor John Wick as opposed to just letting him walk off alone?

The whole thing was really well done technically but with every film in the franchise it removes further and further away from reality.

It is not a very good documentary, I'll give you that, Captain.

Can not grok this.

That’s like saying the Grateful Dead jams are too long.

Oh wait. Forgot who I was talking to for a moment…

I should have bet money you would bring up the Dead.

The Nabob of Negativity, the Captain of Killjoys, the Rain on everyone’s Parade, The G-Man Himself, is on Fire!

Nice riposte, G-Man. Respect

RE: John Wick 4 - Drunk Monk - 11-27-2023

Ack!

Do epeeists even have to acknowledge ripostes? Don’t we just remise & redouble on thru?

That’s like following G-man on fb and complaining that there are too many pix of pets & sunsets.

Oh wait…

RE: John Wick 4 - Greg - 11-27-2023

Hurtful. At least my photographs are in focus.

RE: John Wick 4 - Drunk Monk - 11-27-2023

Where’s the art in that?

RE: John Wick 4 - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 11-27-2023

[eating popcorn, watching the exchange with rapt attention]

RE: John Wick 4 - Drunk Monk - 11-27-2023

You know what goes good with popcorn?

Grateful Dead tunes.
