RE: San Francisco - Greg - 04-25-2023 Time to save Pannonia. RE: San Francisco - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 04-25-2023 That's where the old Pannonia club was? RE: San Francisco - Greg - 04-26-2023 I believe so. It was at the top of one of the Art Institute buildings. When we were doing the the Piller Doc we tried to get in but they said no. RE: San Francisco - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 04-26-2023 I thought Pannonia was downtown, on California St in an Academy of Art building. SFAI is in North Beach and is entirely too cool to have had fencers in it. RE: San Francisco - King Bob - 04-26-2023 I did a little searching and got that it was in the California Hall, at Polk and Turk RE: San Francisco - Greg - 04-26-2023 I will check my notes. It was downtown. But I thought for sure it was in an Art Institute Building. RE: San Francisco - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 04-26-2023 It is in an Academy of Art building, but SFAI is not Academy of Art. SFAI is/was legit, Academy of Art is a real estate scam by some rich Marin bastards RE: San Francisco - Greg - 04-26-2023 Ah! My confusion. I was hunting through my footage because I shot some Drone footage of the building to clarify. RE: San Francisco - King Bob - 04-26-2023 Here is the reference I found, only (hopefully truthful) eyewitness accounts; Wikipedia says nothing and I found no other mention. And the building was in Dirty Harry. RE: San Francisco - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 04-26-2023 King Bob is King for a reason. RE: San Francisco - Greg - 04-26-2023 That is the building. Very distinctive top. RE: San Francisco - thatguy - 04-26-2023 Fuck off, we're the judean people's front, not the people's front of judeah --tg RE: San Francisco - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 04-27-2023 Splitters! RE: San Francisco - King Bob - 05-13-2023 Being in North Beach reminded me of a shop I used to like years ago - The Schlock Shop, on Grant I think. And the Postcard Palace was nearby. And I think a little later (90s) there was a gallery of psychedelic posters nearby. I didn't think to look yesterday to see if the focaccia shop is still there by the park. Those guys were old in the 90s, so probably not. I loved how they would wrap it in paper and tie it up with string. (There used to be a little used bookstore in Campbell that wrapped your books like that - when I bought a book there it felt like I was in a Dickens novel or something.) Parking was certainly easier over in North Beach in those days. RE: San Francisco - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 05-13-2023 The Focaccia Shop is still there, doing good work and being very cranky. The Ligurian Focaccia Bakery, I believe it is called. Grant St is still a lovely stroll of small shops, but the weird has waned. There is an excellent map shop and an antique store, though. |
