They are trying to determine what kind of staph it is. I hope to go home tomorrow.

how extensive was the surgery? any nerve damage issues? what antibiotics do they have you on?
i know, i ask a lot of questions when it comes to med stuff. it's reflex. if it's too invasive, just tell me to stop. but we are concerned, of course, as your thumb plays a major role in your livelihood.

They thought i might have a numb spot in the inside side of the pad when healed from their casual butchery. 2 cm incision, about as deep. The orthopd PA said that I had a really large thumb. Judging by her knife-skillz, I think she digs me.
They had me on a broad spectrum, but now that they think it is not MRSA they are getting more specific ceftriaxone (?) is the specific, and i can’t remember the broad, except it started with an “a” and was not arithromiacin or whatever.

well, you know what they say - large thumb, larger incision.
sounds very unpleasant.
how did it start? your thumb just swole up spontaneously and you went to the er?
did they release you yet?

Basically. I got swole, went to ER, gave me drugs, went home, got swoller (?) went back to ER (same day) got hacked open and interred for three days. I am just now back in my cave

3 days. Pain only bad on day one, tylenol handles the rest. I really wanted to be gone, but i was impressed with how seriously they took it, and the caring, humorous demeanor of the entire staff. Now dreading the bill.

I could be more broken but for whatever reason, I am not. Heading into the darkened bedroom last night, I left the lights off so as not to wake the exhausted Queen, I tripped over Maeve and crashed to the floor. I believe there was much swearing. There was enough racket to awake and alarm the Queen. After I fell, I lay on the ground for a few seconds to gather my wits and do and injury inventory. Since I was unmoving on the ground, the Queen was quite worried. She had left the bed to check on me. I assured her I was alright. I also had to check on Maeve to make sure I hadn't injured her in the collision. She was fine but unnerved. My only injuries appear to be some rug rash on my knee and slight tenderness in my left forearm.
Maeve reciprocated by demanding I take her out at 3am to do a pee and poop run. Figuring I was only going out onto the porch, I neglected to get on some shoes. Maeve dragged me down the steps, across the weed choked yard and out into the street.
Good times.

oh oooh. i wanna play.
i just noticed a big bruise across my left hand knuckles. discoloration is from my pinky knuckle to my middle finger knuckle and half way across the back of my hand. it's really sore.
i have no idea where that came from.
i hear mysterious bruises is a sign of addition. i just thought it was a sign of life.

Not a bruise. There’s a tiny pinprick scab in the middle of it. Around that is a quarter size discolored circle surrounded by a ring of bruise that’s about the same diameter as a soda can. It’s not painful, not even tender except at the pinprick. Ninja dart? Radioactive spider bite? Acupuncture fairy? If I get spider powers, I’m going to taunt KB with them big time.
But srsly, it’s kinda freakin me out. I hope it gets better tomorrow.

Not a sign of addition. Building extra rooms or doing math, maybe, but bruises.
Not fallout from your staff symposium? Too recent? Is it a “bullseye” bruise, like you get from a tick?
