RE: Doom Dogs - Drunk Monk - 12-04-2024 A tale of Norman. One of my close friends, my evil twin (same birthday) has been fostering this dog from Afghanistan. Norman is very neurotic due to past trauma. She learned that Norman had bonded with another Afghani refugee dog named Pinko, who was adopted in Santa Cruz. I tapped my social media networks (fb & NextDoor) plus Yuki's dog pack. Pinko (now Malala) has been found. Her owner reached out to me this morning via ND and I passed that along. They are looking to connect the dogs again soon. I hope to be there for that reunion. Needed a good news story. So happy to be of service. RE: Doom Dogs - thatguy - 12-04-2024 That might make a good actual news story. Every one needs a feel good story. You should call the local news outlets (do they still exist?) --tg RE: Doom Dogs - Drunk Monk - 12-04-2024 I do have a friend on the Sentinel. Coincidentally I bumped into him last week at TJs. I was going to tap him about our yoga studio which is moving to a new location (where Harts used to be near the Rio - a short walk from our bungalow). I was thinking of hitting him up to get some attention for their gofundme. RE: Doom Dogs - Drunk Monk - 12-23-2024 Yuki had a weird seizure today. We went out to close our neighbor’s like we always do before going to the park. I came back in the house and Yuki stayed out for a bit. When I went to get him, he ate some grass and went behind Matt’s house hunched over like he was going to puke. Then he bolted into the yard oddly, like something was on his tail. He fell over and went rigid for a moment, drooled and peed, like a grand mal seizure. Then he came out of it. Scared the fuck out of me. He seems fine now, a little subdued. We went to the park for a bit where he pooped, peed and sniffed about like usual. We scheduled an appointment with his vet on Friday - his allergies have been acting up and we’ve been meaning to get him checked out. Stacy said he ate something this morning on their walk but she didn’t know what it was. Maybe that was it. RE: Doom Dogs - Drunk Monk - 02-02-2025 Yuki rolled in something dead on the beach this morning which demanded an emergency bath before I left for svale. Now he smells like shampoo but that’s far better than the alternative. He came out just now as I had a midnight snack - some hummus and crackers. I offered him a bit of cracker and he turned his snout up at it. Srsly? He eats mud and rolls in disgusting dead stuff on the beach and my cracker bit isn’t good enough for him? I’m sure he was hoping for nite cheese… RE: Doom Dogs - Greg - 02-02-2025 (02-02-2025, 01:15 AM)Drunk Monk Wrote: my cracker bit isn’t good enough for him? I heard a thump and went out to find Yuki lying on the ground with one hind leg in the air. He had froth on his mouth. When he got up, he was limping a bit but that went away soon. Again, he seemed postictal to me. This is very troubling. Last time, the vet said there are some tests which we might explore. AS for now, I'm starting to document and I'm thankful that I left myself a note here. RE: Doom Dogs - Greg - 02-18-2025 Ugh. I hope for the best. RE: Doom Dogs - King Bob - 02-18-2025 Sorry to hear that. Dog illnesses are hard. You can't really give a dog an MRI (except those ones they trained to sit still for it) so I wonder what tests they can do. We're watching our friend's dog and he has some serious separation anxiety. He freaks out when Christina goes to work and it's hard for me to calm him down. Nothing really works except a fast walk around the block. (Apparently that doesn't happen when I leave.) I think this is the longest he's been away from his person, so that could be a factor. She's not back until Sunday. Other than that he's great. RE: Doom Dogs - Drunk Monk - 02-18-2025 He may just be an epileptic dog. I’ve had friends with epilepsy. It might also have been exhaustion after the 7+ mile hike the day before. The vet said there is a potential treatment which would require daily injections. Ugh. We do have pet insurance. We shall see. Apart from these two episodes, he’s a very healthy dog. Robust. So far, I’ve been the only witness to it, so it’s akin to my mom’s episode last month (which she barely remembers now). RE: Doom Dogs - Drunk Monk - 04-12-2025 Yuki is my nite cheese buddy. He typically goes to sleep when Stacy does, and she’s an early riser, before dawn, so to bed by nightfall. Sometimes Yuki will hang with me for my late night binges, but not tonight. However, when I open the cheese drawer in thr fridge he appears like magic. Poof! I haz doggo. And I cannot resist those begging brown eyes. It’s his epic natural mascara. I only give him a tiny nibble because I don’t want him to chonk out. Tonight we had some lovely Cotswold. Mmmmm nite cheese. RE: Doom Dogs - Drunk Monk - 04-13-2025 When I come home late, Yuki usually gets up to greet me then goes quickly back to sleep. But this night called for nite cheese, and poof! There was Yuki again, waiting for a nibble with drooling jowls and begging eyes. I’m thinking of dubbing him ‘cheezbegga’ Tonight was some organic extra sharp cheddar. It's the single most popular cheese in the world. |
