DM, you working Outermost Lands?

Of course! Wouldn't miss it.

Chances were good DM and I could have talked well into the night. It would have been better with a saucy waitress and a glass of water to grow dinosaurs in.

RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 08-07-2024

Nothing beats saucy waitresses and growing dinos.

Today I must wash Darth, go home, work & write, and pack for the weekend. I've been living out of my backpack for several weekends now...

Two telemeets, some work, then off to SF. Tara & I will pick up our OSL wristbands at BGC, then grab some dinner somewhere.

I recognized five names.

OSL day 1

I got about as many. We're old.

RE: Sheltering in Place - King Bob - 08-09-2024

About the same for me.

So old

So very old

OSL day 2

OSL day 3

Then home to the default world again. It’s going to be a rough Monday, but not worrying about that - one more day of music and festivities first.

RE: Sheltering in Place - King Bob - 08-11-2024

Went to the De Young yesterday and not much traffic going in (about 9am) and got street parking very close to the Arboretum entrance. Saw the "Century of Fashion" show with selections from the permanent collection. We'd seen it before but were with friends who had not. Then through the Oceanic galleries and the American galleries and lunch. Had a tasty ham & cheese croissant, although a bit pricey. Coffee was good enough, but not outstanding. On leaving I tried to go up a couple of blocks on 9th to avoid OSL traffic, but didn't go far enough and had a long wait at 19th while people tried to turn right.

Maybe the best thing was that we stopped by the membership desk and asked about an educator discount on membership. There is one - $99 a year - and they credited us the day's ticket prices toward the membership. Sweet! And a couple of shows coming up I want to see, so we'll get our money's worth.

Today I trimmed the hedge in the back yard and nicked my finger with the electric hedge trimmers. Barely touched me but got a cut/bruise combo. I was being careful to keep my hand away from the blades but I was on the ladder and the trigger was stuck, and I was reaching up to get both hands on the trimmer. I got too close and one of the blade tips got me. It could have been much worse. Maybe I should get an armored glove for my left hand. Anyway that's it for trimming the hedge until next year.

Sunday is sleep in day, which I did, then I rode down to Jake's to meet up with a colleague to gossip & talk some business. Good time.

I have noticed that since H is still in EuroLand, I have been isolating myself. Today was a deliberate choice to get out of my cave. Nice to bip up near 100mph on 280. Now back in cave drinking coffee, contemplating ice cream later

RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 08-12-2024

This Monday is going to suck more than most Mondays. Got two telemeetings (one in 6.5 hours) and one extended one because the Bossman wants to waste more time in a meeting. Gotta keep cool, man. Also gotta sort my mom’s medical. Her caretaker hopes to up her melatonin dosage but needs her doctor’s permission - she texted me about this on Friday (such a buzzkill) but I couldn’t do anything about it on my phone. My bad. I struggled to get her a new doc when her last doc bailed and I never followed up on my phone. This could be a lot of bureaucratic sorting. Oh bother.

Plus I have a booster shot & blood draw. Yay.

Gotta cling to the memories of the weekend because there were some great ones…

RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 08-12-2024

Turns out I only had one meeting but the 2 hour one was so painful for the last half hour.

Now I'm eating pistachios and will flip my laundry next.

I think when I go downtown for my bloodwork & shot that I'll treat myself to a poke bowl.

RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 08-13-2024

Work, then svale. Stacy did a lot of cleaning there yesterday. I just can't bring myself to engage that - too many memories, not that they spark joy or anything, but they tend to freeze my heart. She's detached and efficient at it - still taking Kondo to heart. There should be a ton of stuff for a scheduled pick up.

Tara may occupy the house next summer. Her internship with Orrick was renewed for 2024 but at the South Bay office.
