that was not comforting in any way - Drunk Monk - 01-27-2009 the visual of a boneless bear assaulting a book to a phillip glass soundtrack is not a comforting mental image. back to plucking the albatross... Re: albatross by DM - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 01-28-2009 The destruction will be protracted and...moist. nakeman:
plucking the albatross - Drunk Monk - 02-12-2009 That's PLucking, PPFY. PLucking with a P and an L. Hit a major stall last week - I think I was overwhelmed by work deadlines. Nothing like pressure to write other stuff to jam the pipes. Had some breakthroughs over the weekend binge and got them all integrated, more or less, Monday night. Now I'm stuttering again, but it might just be my upcoming trip. We'll see how things go after Prez day... Re: albatross by DM - The Queen - 02-12-2009 Major empathy. I've somehow volunteered to write two textbooks, so that we can stop paying the person to whom this project has been outsourced for the past 9 years to do a crappy job of it and deliver it four-five months late (each time). Given how much I'm going to be on the road, and all the other responsibilities I've got on my plate, I have a feeling I'm going to be experiencing a lot of what you're enjoying with the Albatross. feb is a wash - Drunk Monk - 02-23-2009 i'm always hella busy in feb. totally stalled out on the pluckin'. fortunately it's a short month.
Re: albatross by DM - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 02-24-2009 ...moist... dammit. more feathers! - Drunk Monk - 02-26-2009 The abbot is coming in three weeks. Dm has been asked to accompany him to Sacramento, possibly to meet the govenator. That's another chapter and another reason why I gotta get this damn albatross plucked quickly. There will always be more chapters. All this to be moistly protracted by PPFY. Re: albatross by DM - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 02-27-2009 .....
yea yea right right right - Drunk Monk - 02-27-2009 i get it, ppfy. in my mind, i'm imagining i'm sasha fierce, posing for all the nerdy yetis to protract over. right, then. back at it. pluck, pluck, pluck. mt117
Re: albatross by DM - The Queen - 02-28-2009 I don't know if it helps but I'm writing two textbooks and my deadline is the end of April. Wanna race to the finish? you'll win - Drunk Monk - 03-02-2009 you have a hard deadline. it's work. and it's a textbook, so you can always default to that impenetrable babble that all textbooks use. since this is a personal work, it falls into that horrible artsy zone of 'when is it done? is it done? maybe just another little tweak here...' i did some tweaks the other night, only to discover that most of it was rewriting stuff i'd already done elsewhere. wrote a page or two that was reduced quickly to a sentence or two of usable material... Re: albatross by DM - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 03-04-2009 Every writer's favorite question: How's the writing going? Followed by: When will you be done? Enjoy. Re: albatross by DM - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 03-05-2009 You forgot "so, what's it about?" Re: albatross by DM - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 03-05-2009 At the moment, I figure it's about ten pages. just plucked out away chapter 14... - Drunk Monk - 03-05-2009 ...or was it 15? It was 30+ pages. |
