Monday was try to catch up at the shop, then downstairs to get stabbed (including an enthusiastic stabbing from 2024’s #1 Junior foilist in the world; that kid hits like a truck. A really, really fast truck) and then back upstairs again to finish catching up. A nice 12 hour day. Feh.
Tomorrow (New Year’s Eve) is regular shop day, except that there is only me in the shop and a lotta folks coming in to get their stuff ready for the big national tournament this weekend. No teaching for me as management decided on an early lesson schedule.
I hope we all have a happier 2025 than we think we will.

For the first day of 2025; I’m going to rest. Maybe take a sauna. Walk the dog for sure. He’s cowering by me right now because he’s terrified of fireworks and there’s been a few tonight. It wouldn’t be NYE if I didn’t have to talk someone down, and now it’s Yukz a lot.
I’ve got that NYE post show glow so I might be tweaking into the new year. Typical. It was a good night tho. I luv being able to walk to a solid dead cover band, get crazy lit, and stumble home. Such a peaceful walk:

Don't know if any of you believe in omens (patchouli-slurping merc n ret types excepted) but this evening one of the coins in my pocket, a nickel, had a minting date of 1939. I'm sure it doesn't mean anything. Right?

1939 was the 2nd year the Jefferson Nickel was issued and this coin is worth up to $50.00 on average, these coins on average are selling for $12.00. The lowest sales numbers we could find were for $1.75 for in person sales and a little more for online sales if you consider shipping prices. Its possible these coins are worth less than this in cull condition, but no one seems to be logging these sales or they are lumped together with others in a collection or group

Woo-hoo! I used to look for old coins when I counted out the registers at the Booksellers, but never found any.
Tomorrow Christina is working and I'm still off, so I'll go to Kaiser for my blood draw and pick up the colonoscopy prep drink - that's happening next week. I'll trade some books at Recycle and then swing by Rasputin, since I've got some credit there.

My mom's dogs have a new home, just north of Denver. I’ve been out for the last 10 days. Flew with them from Monterey to Denver by way of Seattle. Stayed in a hotel. Got a rental amd drove them to their new family on Xmas Eve. Spent the rest of the last few days visiting friends near Colorado Springs, staying in Santa Fe and then visiting ex-neighbors in Albuquerque. Came back on NYE and celebrated with some other neighbors. Today is laundry and trying to re-align with the new world paradigm before work starts back up next week.

I don't carry change that much. I've got a change jar. When I get a fair amount in there, I go to Coinstar and get an Apple gift card and buy some songs.

Change is inevitable. I also use it for parking meters.

I do exactly the same except I sort the quarters out. Quarters are still functional, mostly for parking meters. And I usually buy something else, like cheese and crackers.

I use quarters to pay my library fines because those come in 25 cent increments.
