RE: My Family - Drunk Monk - 01-04-2023 Warfarin is so tricky. My dad had issues with it but mostly severe bruising. I don’t remember any bleeding like that but I’ve blocked a lot of that out of my mind. RE: My Family - King Bob - 01-04-2023 My mom had some intestinal bleeding from that too. But she blew off or forgot a follow-up visit to her doctor, and was on it for longer than intended. RE: My Family - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 01-04-2023 I take it every day. It's not that bad for me, fortunately, but I think I'm lucky. RE: My Family - Drunk Monk - 01-04-2023 Debating about posting either: Have you checked your rectum lately? - or - Let me hit you and I bet you'll bruise like an old banana... Decided not to post either and just nod agreeingly. ![]() srsly tho - how long have you been on it? My dad was on it for the decade plus after his stroke. I remember one incident where he had a mild fall and his entire side turned purple from ankle to shoulder. It was the most intense bruise I've ever seen. RE: My Family - King Bob - 01-04-2023 That reminds me that I mentioned the wrong drug above. She was on Coumadin when she had intestinal bleeding; she was then switched to Warfarin. Like DM's father, she got some tremendous bruises from falls. RE: My Family - Drunk Monk - 01-04-2023 My dad went the other way. Started with warfarin then switched to Coumadin because it was messing with his diabetes et.al. Both were tricky drugs to manage. RE: My Family - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 01-04-2023 Coumadin is the commercial name for Warfarin. I've been on it full-time since 2015. The bruising can be significant, but overall not a big issue if I wear my gear RE: My Family - Drunk Monk - 01-05-2023 (01-04-2023, 04:22 PM)Drunk Monk Wrote: Let me hit you and I bet you'll bruise like an old banana... You shameless flirt! I did give a demo lesson without my coach gear once and I did get alarming bruises. RE: My Family - Drunk Monk - 01-05-2023 I bruise easily now too. I noticed this after I was put on rosuvastatin. They usually aren’t that tender but the do discolor, but my skin tone tends to obscure the purple. Whenever I do sparring drills, I get bruised now, but I stopped doing hand to hand contact with the pandemic, and now with my shoulder issues, I’m not going to risk my one good arm. I noticed a bruise on my inner right forearm after NYE. No idea how it got there. I once read unexplained bruises are a sign of alcoholism but I haven’t had a drink this year at all yet (hmm, I should rectify that). RE: My Family - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 01-05-2023 Unexplained bruises are how ninjas say "Hi!" RE: My Family - King Bob - 01-05-2023 Maybe DM got that bruise from one of his enemies doing black magic on him. RE: My Family - Greg - 01-05-2023 Good guess.
