RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 08-30-2023
I failed at writing yesterday. I have a piece due at the end of the week but I hit a wall. Thought I knew where it was going but that’s a dead end so I must rework or abandon it.
Then it’s over to my mom for a visit and to pay rent. Then a date with Queen Bey for some music and super blue moon gazing. Note that it’s Hungry Ghost festival and one of the superstitions is that you shouldn’t sing after dark so I won’t be singing along (the only sone I might know the lyrics to is Halo and I hear that’s not in the tour set).

I got 5 hours of downtime then a triple telemeet Thursday then maybe dog parkn then an iaido session with that visiting NY sensei. I got my article to work better so I hope to finish it today too.

Chancellor's office gave us a half day off. We went to Lowe's and got a couple of plants for the yard.

Shop (lots of “ACK! My sprog is fencing in LA this weekend and nothing works!” along with the usual stuff) then club (quiet because many sprogs are fencing in LA this weekend). Some silly USA Fencing politics, mostly resolved.
And now I get the next 2.5 days off.
H is still outta town, so it is sleeping late, wandering the city, and having dinner with book-cronies. It is also anniversary #4 for me and H, but that celebration will wait until next weekend when she is back.

I have an iaido exam tomorrow with that visiting sensei from New York. Then I must get a cake for my mom’s birthday tomorrow.

Yoga then over to my mom’s for her 93rd birthday. Tara will meet us there. We will bring the dogs. Then Stacy has some clients so I’ll hang out at my mom’s house with Yuki. My original plan was to not work at all for 3 days, but I’ll bring my laptop and work a bit - might as well. Not much Lee to do there otherwise. I suppose we could take two cars but that seems wasteful.

All I got today is yoga. Stacy works immediately afterwards. I’m going to hang out downtown, maybe grab a bite, maybe order a book I’ve been meaning to order for weeks now, and walk home. Then I’m just gonna hang out and not turn my Mac on at all.

I’m on the mall, enjoying a cat&cloud oat milk capp, pondering where to window shop. Yum.
Finally ordered that book about scorpions or something or another at BSSC. They said it was on back order at their warehouse but they ordered direct from the publisher. Should have it in my hands in about two weeks.
The weather is Cruz perfect - sunny with a cool sea breeze. Today is a good day.

Telemeeting first thing - looking at Sep which will be profoundly affected with the death of our IT guy. Then a solid day of work, then over to svale but I won’t be visiting my mom. I’ll visit tomorrow because we have to do some banking first thing.
Yesterday was a pleasant break. Didn’t do much of anything beyond relaxing and laundry.

Last night we splurged on pub food that was way too greasy for my old gut. Kept me up a bit more than I would’ve liked.
