RE: I'm more broken than you - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 09-07-2016 The clots were wide spread in both lungs, except for one large on in one of the major arteries in one of the lungs. It explains why I have been feeling more and more tired over the last few months. I was really wondering how I could be in such bad condition with all of the moving and stabbing. Things just ramped up to 10 on Sunday. Now with the drugs coursing through my veins again I am doing much better, but I still get winded sometimes. I gave about 8 or 9 lessons tonight and really moved in one to see how far I could push it. The answer is not very far, but I could still make them sweat. I only worked with the 10 to 13 year old crowd tonight. I wasn't going to try any of the fire-breathers. Warfarin and Lovenox (self-injecting) for now, paring down to warfarin only for the next 6 months, then reassess. Likely to stay on warfarin for the rest of my days, though. What changes are in the works for you, DM? New meds, lifestyle changes? You and G-Man comparing notes? Bon touche - Drunk Monk - 09-07-2016 Wow that sounds pretty rough. My dad was on wafarin for a while too. It was always tricky with his meds because he couldn't tell us what was going on. We had to go on various external tests. He used to bruise pretty badly on blood thinners. Don't let 'em poke ya. To be honest, I haven't got my act together with the new meds/diagnosis. I've been in denial about my diabetes for months. I really haven't started monitoring regularly. Been on losartan for bp for sometime now and that's working well. Jury is still out on the Lipitor. I'm adjusting my diet - gave up soda after my horrid post-Super Bowl binge on that goddamned monkeypuppybabypop. Never really had a sweet tooth. Cutting back on carbs is a bitch. I luv carbs. Still taking occasional medmj, but using the cbd tinctures instead of thc. I'll take occasional flexeril or oxy if the arthritis gets really bad. Got to get back in practice. Been two months since I took a lesson. My personal practice is offline too and haven't had a chiro adjustment in a month+. Just been so busy. one more thing - I have an appointment with a skin specialist for a biopsy on a rogue facial mole first thing tomorrow. My doc is named Dr Boyle. Srsly. She thinks it's benign but is going to cut it and says it will scar. I will ask if she can make the scar look like a fencing scar. Prolly not but can't hurt to ask. Hope your feeling better there Cole. Lungs are a bitch to heal. Traditional Chinese Medicine would likely prescribe sanshedan - trio of snake biles. Sounds weird but it worked for me after I was hospitalized for pneumonia and with other congestive issues. It's otc. RE: I'm more broken than you - thatguy - 09-07-2016 Well, that beats perpetual neck and shoulder pain and the resulting insomnia. --tg PS: And now a word from Lord Warfarin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8TaGNnb-U0#t=0m42s RE: I'm more broken than you - King Bob - 09-08-2016 Man that sucks for both of you! By comparison I have nothing to complain about. (Except getting older of course.) DM - I saw some info a while ago on intermittent fasting improving insulin resistance and blood sugar numbers. You might want to look into that.d Yeti - Keep breathing. thanks - Drunk Monk - 09-08-2016 Been meaning to do another fast soon. That's a good suggestion - completely flies in the face of the western treatment for diabetes (they always say eat regularly) but I do like fasting (thc stores in fat so there's a really good buzz involved). ![]() The biopsy went well. Only felt the anesthetic needle. Only now I got a big fat bandaid on my cheek for the next week and a half. AWKWARD. All sweaty. - Greg - 09-08-2016 Being a slave to western medicine, I was appalled by the fasting idea. If I don't eat on the regulars, my body gets all sort of wonky. Enough! - Greg - 09-08-2016 On another note, you people need to knock it off with this getting sick crap. We have reached saturation levels with our lack of wellness. Frankly, your ill health is making me sick. Oh, wait . . . . Free yourself - Drunk Monk - 09-08-2016 My body is wonky all the time. Fasting is strongly contraindicated. Must ponder this. RE: I'm more broken than you - King Bob - 09-08-2016 I'm talking INTERMITTENT fasting, not just fasting. Look it up. The simplest method is to skip breakfast. RE: I'm more broken than you - Greg - 09-08-2016 Wow. Sorry. I was just going by my own personal experience of being a diabetic and what fasting, intermittent or otherwise does to my body. For instance, I eat dinner at around 6pm and then have breakfast at 6am. That's about 12 hours without food. My blood sugar pre-breakfast is between 105 and 115. Then I eat 2 meals and two light snacks and measure my blood sugar before dinner. My blood sugar is between 80 and 90. Granted, it is only a pool of one. I don't have anything for you to look up. RE: I'm more broken than you - King Bob - 09-08-2016 Greg - sorry if I sounded harsh, certainly not intended. I go back and look at a couple of things and they did indeed say it's not advisable for diabetics. So that's out. Aw - Drunk Monk - 09-08-2016 Crap. I'll miss fasting. Greg, apart from your blood sugar read outs, what specifically goes wonky? The Diabetes Guru. Not a position I wanted. - Greg - 09-09-2016 King Bob - No harm, no foul. DM I get all sorts of sweaty and light headed. If it goes on long enough, it gets hard to concentrate. Sweaty.... - Drunk Monk - 09-09-2016 I'm always light headed. ![]() I'll watch for sweatiness. I've worked with diabetic crash patients who've been misdiagnosed as IPRs at festivals. That and head injuries are the scariest misdiagnoses. The Lipitor seems to be settling in. First few days I could really feel my circulatory system. Seems okay now. The bandage on my cheek is annoying but it looks like it'll heal okay. It won't look like a fencing scar. ![]() My scars are on the inside - Greg - 09-09-2016 I would think you could work something out with the Yeti to get a fencing scar. |
