RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 05-17-2020 now i got those sunday blues. it's the rain coupled with reflecting on the missed tcec & kftcd. been getting odd messages from supporters from those circles and reflecting upon the loss of it all. those were epic events. rainy days are good for writing. maybe i'll polish those pieces i was working on yesterday. i could also do some maintenance on the kfm site if i was so inclined. or maybe i could just veg out and binge vids. laundry is almost done. RE: Sheltering in Place - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 05-17-2020 Still viciously sunny up here. Lie in achieved. Coffee almost done. H is outside, smoking first cig of the day (“Noir Breakfast”, cigarette and coffee) Contemplating a walk, waiting for clouds. New book started. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 05-17-2020 Viciously sunny? What a difference 70 miles makes. Such is seaside living. It's been raining all day, chilly and grey. I've been in the back room, noodling on the web and polishing those articles. I activated my wordpress blog - https://geneching.wordpress.com. There's nothing there yet, and honestly, I don't know what my plan is for it, but I felt I needed my own public receptacle. I'll probably announce it on my social media on Tuesday. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 05-18-2020 day 61: i must look at kfm today in preparation for what is hopefully my major load-out tomorrow. my reference books are left - all big and heavy volumes - plus more odds and ends. i doubt i'll get it all, but i plan to get the lion's share of what's left so only a tiny bit remains. plus i'll have to hand over the contract files. hopefully any remaining work can be done remotely, but i'll still go in when i'm at my mom's just to face-to-face with jonny et.al. because no one there is good on email. it's still a little drippy today but the skies look like they'll be blue again soon. i did get out to scott's beach yesterday during a gap in the rain. stacy dragged me out. it was a short walk and the waves were so turbulent, but refreshing. RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 05-18-2020 It was so nice to have rain here yesterday and this morning, even though I got soaked walking the dogs. Everything just smells better pre-rain. Plus, I don't think we will have rain again until the fall. Last year when we moved in, it seemed to rain for the entire month of May. Well, our last course of wildflowers will be live that much longer because of the free watering. Yes, I am Shirley Manson. I'm only happy when it rains. RE: Sheltering in Place - cranefly - 05-18-2020 Yesterday LCF and I met a couple friends (maintaining social distance) at the Alameda Creek Trail and went for maybe a 4-mile walk. That's about my limit now. Wide path, easy to avoid other people (and not many), but so breezy I had to remove my hearing aids, because they were overloading with a roar. The location can't be far from DM's Fremont place. Notable sightings: Three colorful scarecrows in a field of harvested wheat (or that's what it looked like). A nice northern harrier on the hunt. Buzzards, red-wing blackbirds. And a rather large snake that I petted until it left the trail (sorry, dude, but too easy for a bike to assist your reproduction in a bad way). It was a gopher snake, with great markings. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 05-18-2020 Yup, Alameda Creek Trail went right past us. Don Edwards is sort of a hidden little gem, that and the quarry. There's a trail that goes over the toll booth for the Dumbarton bridge. The wetlands side is nice. If you head inland, it's mostly overflow slough. They've built up a lot of housing tracks in that area since we lived there. It's unstable land however - marsh soon to be swallowed up by rising waters. However it gives more distance between our house and the bay. Well, I noodled around with a lot of little TC odds and ends in prep for tomorrow and uploaded an actual blog. Haven't published it yet. Next week. I'll announce tomorrow and publish a few repubs, just to get it rolling. Did some file organization - trying to get my head around managing KFM efficiently. So many niggling bits that need attention. Got more email consolations, both at work and through my personal emails. Such grief, from so many fronts. RE: Sheltering in Place - King Bob - 05-18-2020 Took the dog out last night at 10:13 and saw a shooting star. Brightest one I've ever seen. RE: Sheltering in Place - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 05-18-2020 Had a socially distant coffee klatch with Deb “My Attorney, Bernie” Bjonerud this morning while she had new tires put on her motorcycle. Ritual exchange of books and banter. She and husband Brian are doing well. She can tell you the exact day of her retirement, though. Not hating her job at all, but thoroughly done with it. Oh, dropped off Birthday Donuts to my friend Kamilla. RE: Sheltering in Place - The Queen - 05-18-2020 Three furlough weeks completed, one more to go. I go back to full time on June 1st. I also begin 2-3 meetings per week with the president of the company who has decided not to hire someone to be the new training product manager, but instead to have me work directly with him to create the new training “ecosystem.” The meetings will be for us to “ideate.” Every time he said that word, I wanted to ask if that was a droid from Star Wars. I restrained myself. RE: Sheltering in Place - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 05-18-2020 ID-8. Very good, oh Queen! RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 05-19-2020 DAY 62 - Well, the insomia is back along with the adrenaline-fueled brain circus. Thinkg about the reverse tetris of today's load out. Popped awake just after midnite and have been tweaking over the landscape of my TC desk and reference bookshelf. It'll be my 3rd trip back since I was let go although technically I'm back on the payroll for another month as a sort of severance. My first trip, I grabbed the valuables and it was just me and Jonny plus a few odd staff. Last week was the announcement so I only grabbed a few things - my plant and one box of odd items - and it was the TC half staff. Today will be the desk drawers and the reference books. The reference books are volumnous. Plus I need to set up the hard copy files - contracts mostly - for TC's records. Been playing over details in my head for the last hour or so, because why sleep? Man, this whole process sucks. The pandemic is playing out like hammer blows to my knuckles in slow motion. Random thought - maybe KB's shooting star was actually an escape pod carrying I-D8 with death star plans. it's after 2 am now here comes the rain again maybe that'll lull me to sleep RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 05-19-2020 Falling on your head like a tragedy? Falling on your head like a new emotion? RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 05-20-2020 Day 63: only half an hour in. Sleepy but that brain circus is super loud and triggering adrenaline flow. Reflecting on the state of KFM, my mom’s broken washing machine and her stumbles. Everything feels so fragile right now. Didn’t eat well. Didn’t finish up at TC. Watched a few random vids (early Clone Wars Darksaber eps) and dozed off to the Ep but then woke when it was done. Didn’t bring sleep aids. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 05-20-2020 So today’s business: Get my mom’s washing machine sorted. Sort more closure tasks for KFTC. Do a task for iMort to prep for a Friday zoom. Return to the bungalow. |
