Thanks for the reminder. I must search for that clip. There was a petition against him because he's made some pro-PRC statements, but it's the mainland that butters his bread... Do you remember what category he presented for?

I'm pleased that EEAAO & RRR did well as I covered both extensively. Makes me feel like I was on to some things last year.

966-283: Two telemeets - one was rescheduled from last week when the boss took a 'snow day'. That's the one I got up Spring Forward early for and also the one that no one else is here. Got a heap of work to deal with in preparation for the week. I wasn't as industrious as I thought I'd be workwise over last weekend.

He either introduced one of the best picture noms or introduced one of the songs. (Google tells me Donnie Yen introduced This is a Life for EEAAO. The performance by David Byrne was horrible)

RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 03-13-2023

Musta been the song because I saw the best picture intro. I'll search for it later today. Thx!

RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 03-13-2023

Donnie Yen introduced the song!

RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 03-13-2023

I can't find that vid. If I search, all I get is news about the attempt to cancel him at the Oscars.

Deepika killed it introducing Naatu Naatu. I love the way she says 'banger'

That was a highlight of the show. Rapturous applause when the number was done

DM - yes, we only have one car. Christina's died during lockdown and we never replaced it. She can walk to work; it's about four blocks. She takes me to work when she's not working and she needs it. I considered riding my bike to work but there's no good way to go; there are some dangerous spots (merges etc.) on all the routes. When I mentioned it to Christina, she just said "I don't want you to ride to work." Everything works out pretty well most of the time; I've missed a couple of library book sales I wanted to hit but that's about it.

Good on you two for the low carbon footprint. We have 3 cars now. Two are ancient. We should get rid of one, maybe two. There are three of us here but Yuki don’t drive. We’re thinking about getting a new car this year - maybe another civic. That car has endurance.

Everyone forgot the rescheduled meeting that I woke up early for on the first Monday of daylight savings time. I sat in the virtual gotomeeting room for an hour whilst doing other stuff. Then my regular meeting went long. And I forgot I had another meeting for CHSA in the evening. Nevertheless we got in a lovely walk to Walton lighthouse before sunset and the rain. The vista was gray but the sea air was so fresh and exhilarating.

RE: Sheltering in Place - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 03-14-2023

The sky over the ocean today was a tumult of gray. I’m looking forward to riding in some weather tomorrow.

RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 03-14-2023

Foregoing the morning walk because of sky falling water. More wrestling with James Phelan and the story of Hetch Hetchy.

968-285: Big day today. Just cleared my first meeting, then I have an interview with the stunt directors for John Wick coming up in two hours, then over the hill for a quick visit with my mom, then up to SF for the John Wick screener, then home. It's a lot of travel with the latest Pineapple Express dumping down right now, but hopefully it'll let up when I'm on the road. It reminds me of one of my fav Grateful Dead lyrics 'wheel to the storm and fly'...

That went quite well. Both of the stunt coordinators were charming and responded to my questions positively. I think I spoke enough of their language for them to realize I wasn't just some typical movie critic (dropping the fact that Marko and I starred in Man at Arms together was a good foot in the door). Now to get over the mountains in this insane storm...

It's only raining very l lightly here but the wind is over the top blustery.

RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 03-14-2023

Twas pouring over hwy17 - dodged one small rockslide.
Then svale lived up to its name and was sunny, with blue sky, just a bit windy
SSF was pouring again. Now J-town is misty, not quite drizzly.

RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 03-15-2023

969-286: Today I must work to catch up for hours missed yesterday going to SF and hours missed tomorrow for going to SF.

RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 03-15-2023

Maybe you should move in with the cub and bri and bortles?
