RE: Mortal Kombat - Greg - 03-13-2021 Neither do I. RE: Mortal Kombat - Drunk Monk - 03-13-2021 We old :-( RE: Mortal Kombat - Greg - 03-13-2021 So old. RE: Mortal Kombat - Drunk Monk - 03-14-2021 Too old to see this damn screener apparently. So the rep emailed me at 8pm to tell me she had secured a special code that would allow me to view this screener clip without having to use Okta. But she didn't tell me where to put it. So I looked. The code is only good until EOD (end of day) which thanks to daylight savings time, is an hour earlier. Thanks to this situation, I have access to a special folder on the WB site as well as this secure Pix app and I searched through every button either would let me click. Most of them eventually ejected me from the app so I'd have to log in again. And remember that Pix requires this two step activation where I have to get a special access code off my phone. It was getting comical until the rain knocked out my internet, or at least slowed it down beneath my patience threshold. I emailed the rep telling her I was giving up because I didn't know where to enter this magical code. Then Stacy came home so I bailed so we could watch some Shakespeare & Hathaway together. Just not, just before going to bed I logged on again, and the rep advised me to use the earlier link (the one that I couldn't download) which didn't work obvs. I think she's just mocking me now. The old dude with the old iPhone. Today's interview is via Zoom. They sent backgrounds for us to download and use, but I don't have a green screen, just white walls that don't key out so well. If anyone has any burning interview question suggestions, post them here. I've got a few worked out but I don't think I'll have that much time because it's a panel. RE: Mortal Kombat - Drunk Monk - 03-15-2021 The press junket: I logged on and placed the requested background up on my zoom, but for some strange reason, mine showed mirror image. I was asked to log on a half hour early just to deal with such issues, but their IT couldn't figure it out, so we just left mine mirror imaged as 'the tenet world' as they put it (I was going for the Mirror Universe, but I didn't press it). Not everyone managed the backgrounds. Some said their tech was too old (I can relate). Others just chose not to do so. The waiting room had 20 reporters. We hung and chatted. One moderator threw out Mortal Kombat trivia questions. I got one of them, sort of, but over the chatter, no one heard me. I had watched a YouTube vid on MK a few days ago, so that's why I knew the answer. Three dudes dominated because they knew the game. I did not. Once again, out-nerded by the pros. A few reporters had mixed the provided drinks from the promo box. I did not. One reporter said she got to do a set visit (in Adelaide Oz). We were broken down into round tables. Ours had 8 reporters. Then we waited for another half hour or so until the talent circled around. We each had the chance to ask 1 question. I'm grateful that my group was on it because there was a decent spread of good questions. Both the director and producer were well spoken and we all got a lot out of their 20 mins interview. The whole affair went about an hour forty, much longer than I thought it would. They are supposed to send the audial over soon, and I'll get that transcribed ASAP, then hopefully get an article up ASAP. Tomorrow is another fast ball. I'm sad that I wasn't able to see the first 20 mins. It sounds like it was great. I'm excited for this film. Not sure how I will see it without HBO Max, unless they provide a full screener. We shall see. That may happen. RE: Mortal Kombat - Drunk Monk - 03-15-2021 Well that was quick. The MK reps just delivered the audio files. I've sent them to Den's transcribers. RE: Mortal Kombat - Greg - 03-16-2021 The efficiency of the professionals. When does the movie come out? is it this week. Yes, I have Google...... Yes, it is next month, April 16th RE: Mortal Kombat - Greg - 03-17-2021 I guess one of the youngsters was able to watch his/her 13 minutes of Mortal Kombat. Nerdist Wrote:We’ve Seen the First 13 Minutes of MORTAL KOMBAT and It’s Flawless RE: Mortal Kombat - Drunk Monk - 03-17-2021 The reviews are coming out already - I read several this morning. I didn’t get my transcript until last night and started on it but fell asleep due to the time change. Feeling that pressure... RE: Mortal Kombat - Drunk Monk - 03-17-2021 Article submitted. It's been fun reading the other reports. I know who was in my panel and it's amusing to see what some of the other panels got for answers. The awkward thing was that the producer could talk up a storm - he could really sell it, like you might expect. However the director, this is his first feature film, so while he could talk, he didn't say as much quoteworthy stuff so the reports are a little lopsided. Maybe that producer is just a good salesman, but I'm much more interested in this now after listening to him. It's got two of my favorite actors, Hiroyuki Sanada and Joe Taslim. There are additional interviews on the table now. We'll see how that goes. RE: Mortal Kombat - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 03-17-2021 Joe Taslim is great. His stuff with Iko Uwaise was fantastic. RE: Mortal Kombat - Drunk Monk - 03-30-2021 FLAWLESS VICTORY! Screener unlocked. It helps to have an up-to-date phone. This delivers exactly what it promises. The plot is minimal and we are catapulted into the fight scenes. The script and performances are just enough to keep things moving. Not a lot of down time. What can I say? This had me at those first 15 mins, which is Taslim v. Sanada. It's a lot about them. Taslim rocks Sub-Zero. And Sanada is always so cool. My ol' Badlands buddy, Lewis Tan, did well. He acts just enough - not mind-blowing acting, but not dumb. And this film is a whole lotta dumb in the sense that it's a videogame, one of the first and foremost fight games. Lewis did well. I don't know the game well enough to catch many of the Easter Eggs. It seems thick with them. I caught a few - like lines like 'Finish Him!' but I'm betting there's a lot more for fans. I didn't recognize any of the characters until they were introduced, and then I kinda knew who they were. Kung Lao's hat is a hybrid of Oddjob's hat plus Capt. America's shield. Lord Raiden's lightning reminds me of Lightning in Big Trouble in Little China. There are other derivative moments. It's fairly cinematic. I'd have enjoyed it on the big screen. They may offer in-house screeners and I might consider that if it times out with my vaxxes. The fight choreo is decent. It was hard to watch on the tiny iPhone screen, but it looked sharp. And the gratuitous violence so characteristic of the game was super sanguineous but not to the level of Lone Wolf and Cub. The 'Flawless Victory' got a good chuckle out of me for its ridiculous exploitive tone. This is the kind of film that amuses DM and the Yeti but offends Greg for its dumbosity. Too bad Greg. You weak pathetic fool. Sword fights - YES! Taslim v. Sanada. 'nuf said. DOOM recommended. RE: Mortal Kombat - Greg - 03-30-2021 Let the hate-watching commence! I'll prime the pump by watching Godzilla vs King Kong RE: Mortal Kombat - Drunk Monk - 03-30-2021 Our KF bro Hoel bought out a theater for his birthday for that. He’s a huge Gojirra fan. He invited me but it’s out past Sacto and I won’t have my vax on board yet. RE: Mortal Kombat - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 03-30-2021 (03-30-2021, 03:22 PM)Greg Wrote: Let the hate-watching commence!
