RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 03-20-2020

It's kind of imperative for me to get blood tests to monitor my diabetes.

RE: Sheltering in Place - cranefly - 03-20-2020

Gotcha.  I just didn't know the frequency of monitoring, which must be higher than I thought.

RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 03-20-2020

Wellllllll, I'm way behind. They were getting cranky.

RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 03-20-2020

Now, it is a total crisis. My library has closed for the foreseeable future. And I'm almost out of books.

RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 03-20-2020

our library closed last week.  we can't even return dvds.  and they aren't any that we'd want to watch again.

I bought books on Monday afternoon. I can use them for toilet paper afterwards.

i got so many books that i can reread.  i grabbed a few old pulps i still had at my mom's.  then there's some classics i've been meaning to revisit.  and several new books that have been waiting for me.  books i got.

I'm now attending a reggae dancehall from my Cruz DJ buddies, Spleece & Aye Que Linda, ala live facebook broadcast.  It's amusing to see other locals chime in on the comments and hear the DJs react.  Normally they would be throwing the Fulljoy Friday party now, which is held at the Sandbar in Capitola.  I've gone several times.  It's an intimate bar with a deck over the water, a fun local scene. The best part is that I'm in bed, in my pjs, reading a book and sipping my own Teelings.

Forever Loving JAH.

That sounds like it is not a hardship.

RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 03-20-2020

It's rather amusing actually. facebook keeps trying to shut them down because of music copyright. The fb bots redline the screen when the algorhythm finally catches up and warns them of termination. Then they have to shut down for a few minutes and relaunch to throw the scent.

The scent of Ganja!

here in the cruz, that's irrelevant.  the dispensaries are still open - they are an essential business apparently and doing good biz - full parking lots and lines to get in - at least that's what it looks like when i drive by.

So let's see...today's Saturday? Tuesday was my last day so this is DAY 4

DAY 4: Slept in past 9. Stacy left early for a solo hike, so I spent the morning doing some Qigong and Kung Fu, sorting out a basic curriculam for myself for these coming weeks.  I'm rather bummed because my practice was going well.  I fell in with a good group of practitioners and reclaimed the BSL small star (4-8) which won't mean much to anyone here but the cfs, and was doing that on a weekly basis.  It's always something.

I spent the rest of the day reading on my veranda, getting some sun, and chatting with neighbors across the street.  Buck, the recovered alcoholic across the way, is hurting.  He makes surfboards for a living, used to have his own shop on the Westside and turned out about 200 boards a year.  Now he works for someone else and is hustling to find any cash jobs to support his wife and kid.  Shelby, our backyard neighbor, is vacating as I write this.  She and her partner have a place in Oaktown, and are secure for now. The other guys on our plot, Matt & Miles - Miles is laid off.  Matt is still working because he's a bicycle repairman, and that being transportation is deemed essential, although most of his staff has been laid off.

Been debating an art or writing project.  Maybe that'll start tomorrow.  Or maybe tomorrow will be some much needed housecleaning.

DAY 5. Pretty much the same as yesterday. Slept in until 9.  Stacy went for a hike but I just was lazy. Didn't read anything today except for the web and that doesn't count.  Might start later tonight.  Cleaned the bathroom tho.

Talked to my back lot neighbor.  She's pulling out for now - moving everything up to her pad in Oaktown. It was kinda chilling to watch her leave.  She's such a sweet neighbor.  Maybe she'll be back after everything settles, but who can decide now?

RE: Sheltering in Place - El Dingo - 03-22-2020

Binge-Watched:
"The Umbrella Academy" (Netflix) - fun, but not as good as "The Boys" or "Legion"
"Beastars" (Netflix) - Great anime series about an alternate reality where animals evolved into a society. Furry-bait but fun to watch.
"The Good Place" (Netflix)- Tries hard but brainless. I hated all of the main characters.
"The Repair Shop" - (Netflix)When you run out of "The Great British Baking Show" but want a calming 'reality show' about broken things.
"Jojo's Bizarre Adventure" (Netflix)- Weird anime about an English wealthy family heir who learns super powers. My be to weird for me.
