Ok, I see what you mean about ebbs & flows now. I got through e3 which had a fair amount of nudity - lots of bare breasts - and a shadowy fight scene that was mediocre. I sorta lost track of what was going on exactly because I was nodding off.
I was kinda bummed that the hunchback gal turned hawt but that was predictable or they wouldn't used a real hunchback. It was obvious she was hawt under that makeup and prosthetics that her hottie transformation was imminent.
I got halfway through e4 before giving into my sleepiness. That did have a decent sword fight, not as cool as the one in the 1st ep, but competent enough to hold my attention.
So I'm over halfway through now and will probably see it to the end.

Word to the wise, e4 is not a good episode to fall asleep during. I picked it up where I left off and was totally lost in what was happening. I sort of pieced it together by the end but it didn't matter that much.
Cavill is growing on me in the role. I do like his jaded get-away-from-me attitude. I'm still not clear on what defines a witcher and what their powers are, but it doesn't really matter.
It feels a bit like a watered down GoT.

E5 had a lot of nudity. Toplessness, bottomlessness, nekkidness. Like I said, I liked the hunchback witch better when she was a hunchback and her delivering her topless scenes was just distracting. I wanted the minstrel to die. He bugs me as much as he bugs the Witcher. I fell asleep at the very end so I'm not exactly sure how it ended but I'm just going to forge onward and see if it still makes sense.
No sword fights unless it was at the end when I was sleeping.

Nix from the Badlands was in e7 as Fola, one of the initiates in the mage school, the one with the burn scars. I got to interview her in Dublin. She was so young then, a teen. It always trips me out to see actors that I've had prolonged conversations with at some point.

Wait. wth? That's how it ends? dammit.
It was okay. Still feels like GoT lite but there's something to be said for 8 eps vs. 8 seasons. Not sure if I'll watch the next season. Maybe.
I did by into Cavill as Geralt in the end. I liked the eye color thing they did with him and Yennifer.
The swords and armor were silly. The battles were okay.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf
This is the animated prequel. It’s sanguineous and opens with tentacles and sword fights. Nevertheless, it’s kinda meh.
This is before Gerald and sets up the lore behind why there are monsters and witchers. The reason is cliche. The monsters are okay. There’s nekkid breasts and witcher ass, but it’s not as satisfying in this anime.
The anime is okay. It reminded a bit of Korra, only a tad slicker. There’s some nice hallucinations, plus gratuitous decapitation and disemboweling. Lots of magic Qi blasts in technicolor. I liked a lot of the monsters.
There’s a Witcher and sorceress duo akin to the love action. I didn’t quite buy into the main protag Witcher. The Witcher padawan were amusing, especially when they start failing their exams.
Not DOOM recommended unless you’re super into backstory, but then you could just read the book too. I’m not doing that.

Did the book get into the backstory of the Witchers or was it pretty much what the live action story showed. I’m just curious if they’re making up lore now.

The one book I read and their are multiples pretty much covered Geralt's rescue of the magic girl, if i remember correctly. That was the first book written but I believe the author went back and wrote prequels. Plus. there is a lot of lore based on the video games. I think more people know The Witcher from the video games than they do the books. I think Henry Cavill is on record as saying he wanted to be in the show because he loved the video game so much.
