I’ll probably watch some more. It’s very derivative of Hermione from Harry Potter, just darker. I like the lead actress, her aunties and cousin. Tara and our graphic artist Patrick are watching it. I don’t have issues with Satan. Read the Satanic bible in High School, sold Anton some blades (so wish that selfies were a thing back then), been to some pagan/Wiccan rituals. It’s only tv Greg. RE: The real 2018-2019 TV Season Thread - King Bob - 11-06-2018 I kind of thought they were using the Satanism to mock religious groupthink. It is a bit odd to hear it on TV though (even if it is streaming) RE: The real 2018-2019 TV Season Thread - Drunk Monk - 11-06-2018 Watched the 2nd episode of Sabrina. I'm still liking it. It's so derivative of Harry Potter's Hermione in so many ways, the non-witch blood, the feminism, the talent, the conflicts, and especially the eyebrows. Case and point: Kiernan Shipka Emma Watson ![]() That being said, I love Hermione. She's one of my favorite characters of HP after Snape and Bellatrix. Plus the show has a Riverdale twist, happening in the same universe, so I'm hoping for a cross-over. Riverdale has already been mentioned. There was a rumor of a Supergirl cross-over, but the Arrow-verse (including Arrow, Supergirl & Flash) is too vast already. We'll see. Anyways, I'm down for a few more eps of this. I also started watching Homecoming. The cinematography has already hypnotized me, so I'll watch a few more of those too. RE: The real 2018-2019 TV Season Thread - Greg - 11-07-2018 Daredevil. All my time belongs to Daredevil. There was nothing before Daredevil. I don't think there will be anything after Daredevil. It's been pretty fun. I'm up to episode 8. Good fights. Good Wilson Fisk. Matt isn't as mopey. Good twists. But my god I hate Karen Page. Her red rimmed eyes make me want to fast forward every time they appear on screen. But still watch Daredevil. RE: The real 2018-2019 TV Season Thread - Drunk Monk - 11-28-2018 We're rather enjoying The Romanoffs on Amazon Prime. Each episode is a completely different story, different cast, different everything, just with some passing connection to the Romanoff line. It showcases Europe well. There have been several scenes like the episodes shot in Paris where we were like "I think we were there". We've also been binging Endeavour off PBS and again Amazon Prime. Murder mysteries at Oxford in the late 60s. The Season 2 murders were ridiculously complex, absurdly so, but I guessed most of Season 3 correctly. Haven't done so well with Season 4, but I liked the Tarot theme (even though it didn't quite pan out) and the LSD episode. This really isn't 2018-2019, unless you count Season 5, and I haven't started that yet. RE: The real 2018-2019 TV Season Thread - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 11-29-2018 Daredivvil is good because Kingpin is good. Matt isn’t mopey, he’s just bitter and self-involved. Karen Page scenes? I do fast-forward through most of them. It is good, though. The supporting cast is rock solid and the pacing is good. Disney+ has so many properties that it'll be impossible to resist. RE: The real 2018-2019 TV Season Thread - Greg - 11-30-2018 That was my thought as well. I'm not paying for another streaming service. RE: The real 2018-2019 TV Season Thread - Drunk Monk - 11-30-2018 The first (month) will be free... RE: The real 2018-2019 TV Season Thread - Greg - 11-30-2018 Isn't that how they sell heroin? RE: The real 2018-2019 TV Season Thread - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 12-03-2018 Finished Daredevil. Enjoyable. Personally, I miss the ninjas, but I am a traditionalist. Celebrated the end of the series by watching Stardust for the first time. Charlie Cox was very young in that. It was also enjoyable. RE: The real 2018-2019 TV Season Thread - Greg - 12-04-2018 Nightflyers I caught the first episode of this new series based on a novel by GRRM. (This is one of the things he is doing instead of finishing Winds of Winter and Book 7) I was also interested in this project because it is filmed in a new film studio in Limerick. The studio is about a mile from where I used to live (I asked GRRM online whether they were going to use and of Limerick and it's environs for the show. He responded the show was set in space. He was polite enough to not add Moron) It's a haunted ship. The whole crew is set up to fail. The worst part being that they have brought an angry telepath into to closed confines of the ship. They have to keep the telepath constantly sedated so he doesn't harm the crew. The crew also wants to kill him so that's not keeping the tensions down. And they are having a hard time keeping him sedated. He keeps waking up and harming the crew. It's like they decided to bring a bomb into the spaceship with the clock already ticking and there is nothing they can do about it. There are electrical malfunctions throughout the ship and the angry telepaths defenders keep telling us there is no way the angry telepath can infect the electrical systems of the ship. The film makers have also decided that spaceships shouldn't have very many lights for the passageways, going for ambience, I guess, rather than functionality. (Oddly the main hero of this show looks like the eldest son on The Haunting of Hill House) The show airs every night this week (10/2) on SyFy. I'm recording. I will probably watch one more to see if it gets any better. RE: The real 2018-2019 TV Season Thread - Greg - 12-13-2018 Arrow Flash Supergirl Crossover It was a three night event with all the heroes appearing nightly. The first two episodes rocked it. They were funny. They were exciting. There was a lot of stuff going on. For all the hype of seeing Batwoman in action, there wasn't all that much to it, I thought. The third episode sort of fell apart. I don't think they knew how to resolve the story and it seemed to be more of a set-up for next falls Crisis on Infinite Earths. The problem is I don't pay enough to the comics and I'm probably not reveling in all the nerdy goodness that was on display. I have to take the stories at face value and not know the back stories. Still it was fun. I want to know why they can make Flash and Arrow this fun all the time? |
