It's one thing to be told the photo album has been found. It's quite another to have it in my hands. That's when I know it's real.
Cousin Chris texted me this morning to say the album has been shipped. I should have it by Friday. He also sent me a bunch of military records and other papers. Oh happy day.

Congrats on finally finding this photo album. It was definitely looking like a lost cause.

I have finished scanning my grandfather's Photo Album. It was 82 pages. There were about 1100 individual photographs. I'm uploading a Hi-Res copy of the book and it is 1.3gbs
Now time to go proof/edit the actual book.

Since I have finished scanning all the pictures, I'm working on the actual book. One of the things my father was adamant about with the book was not to change how it was written. The book should sound like my grandfather wrote it, to be in his vernacular. That's not going to happen. A lot of the sentence structures are very awkward.
I hear my father yell at me every time I make a change.
Fun Fact: Papa Lynch was a big fan of the word 'and'. I'm going remove about ten thousand 'ands' before I am done.

This is fun. I sent a proposal about Black Scorpion Diary™ to a publisher who specializes in Military memoirs. They have said they would like to see a few sample chapters. I am well chuffed. Now, I really need to finish the edit.

Of course it just occurred to me that I don't know who owns the rights to the novel itself. I don't think finders-keepers is settled precedent in the US. I'll have to reach out to the other cousins and see what they think.
