And Madame Web

I'm surprised you didn't have a snarky comment about The Haunted Mansion.

RE: The Karate Kid - Greg - 09-16-2022

I already worked on the best one. No need to go back.

My editor asked for another feature on this…

You're doing an article on the Haunted Mansion? How odd.

Well crap...

So glad I saw this tonight whilst writing my Den piece. This changes everything.

RE: The Karate Kid - Greg - 09-18-2022

Are they bringing back Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan?!?

RE: The Karate Kid - Greg - 09-18-2022

Here is what they know so far about The Karate Kid:

Quote:Sony announced tonight that it’s making a new Karate Kid movie, the first since 2010's Jaden Smith/Jackie Chan vehicle The Karate Kid—and also the first since Sony Pictures Television’s Cobra Kai raised the franchise’s profile considerably, transforming it from a mere nostalgic touchpoint back into a thing people actually, y’know, care about.

At this point, we have no idea whether this film—about which, there are pretty much zero details known, outside its base existence—is likely to work alongside the show’s story of original Karate Kid villain Billy Zabka and his kick-heavy quest for redemption; the alternative would presumably be to do a whole new reboot, since “What is Daniel up to these days?” has been pretty definitively covered at this point. (And it’s not like we’re likely to be checking back in on Smith’s adolescent karate prodigy, Dre Parker, a decade-plus down the line.) Beyond that, we know bupkis: No stars attached, no creative team, nothing except Sony’s acknowledgement that it owns a brand called The Karate Kid, people seem to like it, and it’s damn well going to get another movie at this point.

Now we know more.

RE: The Karate Kid - Drunk Monk - 11-21-2023

Quote:The show’s creators have stated that neither the cartoon nor the 2010 redux are part of their Miyagi-verse canon. Jackie Chan is referenced in a sly nod in season 1 of Cobra Kai, but as the actor, not as Mr. Han, the character he played. “The actor exists in our universe,” says Heald. “But these characters in that storyline are not something that does have overlap.” It makes sense for this film to stand outside the Miyagi-verse because Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) does not appear in any way.

Time to let go of the teats, this cash cow has had enough.

RE: The Karate Kid - Drunk Monk - 11-21-2023

Wot? NO! This franchise has been one of the most profitable… for me.

RE: The Karate Kid - Greg - 11-21-2023

Once again, it's all about you.

RE: The Karate Kid - Drunk Monk - 11-21-2023

Whaddaya mean ‘once again’?

Always!

RE: The Karate Kid - Greg - 11-21-2023

Forever and ever, amen.
