Can't we spray for albatrosses? - Drunk Monk - 05-25-2009

Can we get one of those no-albatross strips or something?

How many chapters do you foresee this epic becoming exactly?

We gave Jingles a bath today and then pulled a few pounds of foxtails, fleas and burrs off him, at least half his body weight of said materials. He's like a new dog now. He promptly took a nap on my arm and I had to follow suite. He's been eating our loquats lately and leaving the seeds like little turds everywhere.

Re: Ireland 2009 - The Queen - 05-25-2009

Well, there's three sections; Part 1 which is everything a brand new court reporting/captioning student needs to know; probably about 12 chapters; Part 2 which is slightly more advanced; everything student needs while speed-building; probably 5- 6 chapters, then Part 3; everything student needs to be prepared to launch professional use vs. use as student; probably another 10-12 chapters. And of course there has to be a test for each chapter, a series of extra credit activities/exercises and an instructor's guide explaining how to teach what is explained in the student version. So I'm actually writing two books simultaneously, creating all the charts and graphics and exercise files.

Can you say masochist? I knew you could!

Wow - Drunk Monk - 05-25-2009

I never considered tests and review sections. That's an interesting notion. Maybe I'll try that with albatross #2, which I've been fantasizing about way too much instead of just banging out albatross #1. Yeah, masochism is a fundamental streak of any writer.

BTW, back OT, I just tried to view Greg's IRE site, but it was taking too long. I'll look when I get back to work (faster connection and get paid to view). Meanwhile, does this count as chatting up Greg's gf?

Any minute now, I'll be ready to start plucking the albatross again. Oh wait, I think there's a bag of nacho chips in the cubbard with my name on it.

Re: Ireland 2009 - The Queen - 05-26-2009

Don't know what your issue is with the site - works just fine for me. I'm enjoying the blogs and twitters, especially when you contrast Zachary's tweet about Dublin to Greg's missive. Lol No current photos or videos yet, or at least not as of last night.

Yes, this counts as chatting me up and you should expect Greg to defend my honor and punish you when he sees you in San Jose for the tournament. I suspect punishment will come in the form of making you appreciate EVERY piece of camera equipment he's purchased in the last few weeks.

no dishonor in a little chatting up... - Drunk Monk - 05-26-2009

...besides Greg sent me some email promo thing from Guinness in a very rub-your-nose-in-it style, so if there was any punishment to be delivered - and there's none due (at least none for any queen chat but probably plenty for the many gallons of water under the bridge) - the punishment has been exacted.

Someday, I will join the DOOM bros that have made their noble pilgrimages to the Guinness brewery. If I die before I make it, I expect one of you to carry a chunk of my ashes there.

That's not what I have planned for your ashes... Eek

Re: Ireland 2009 - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 05-27-2009

New pics and blogs up on irishTrip2009.com. Yes, my navel is the center of the universe.

that's funny - Drunk Monk - 05-27-2009

i thought the center was a little lower and on the other side. :butthead:

peepeeeffwhy, i was going to say that i planned to live longer than you, but then i thought i wouldn't be able to lift your coffin if i did that.

Re: Ireland 2009 - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 05-27-2009

Hmm, when was the last time you were at Guinness?

yea, thanks for the email ad - Drunk Monk - 05-28-2009

made me feel like i was there. NOT.

actually, it was pretty cool to be thought of there. thanks for that.

:drinkers:

Re: Ireland 2009 - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 05-28-2009

Gravity Bar. It's reason enough to go. You won't find a pub closer to the brewery.

I had a Guinness last night - Drunk Monk - 05-29-2009

I was green with envy thinking of you there. A fyne Irish green, indeed.

Re: Ireland 2009 - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 05-29-2009

Did I bring up the fact I was in the Bushmill's tasting room?

Yea, I got that... - Drunk Monk - 05-29-2009

...and it just tickles the hell out of me that you can brag about it on this here forum. Ain't the web grand? Before this, all we could muster was a postcard.

Tonight, I'm getting skunked on Bushmills, just so I can feel closer to Greg.

Re: Ireland 2009 - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 05-29-2009

I suggest the special reserve 1608! Oh, wait you can only get that here at the brewery. Bummer.
