Yeti: Yes I have a specialist.

DM: I may have said, but mine is L5-S1.

I had another steroid shot Tuesday (again about the most painful thing I've ever done) and not as much relief as the first time, but wait and see for full effect. But this doctor noticed on the x-ray (said it was not visible in MRI done previously) that my S1 is fused to my pelvis, and he would tell my back doctor about it. I was in pain so I did not think to ask if it was congenital or arthritis or something else, but I guess it doesn't really matter. Anyway, since that lower joint can't flex, there is more pressure on the injured one, so I was probably predisposed to this injury.

Happy Save Your Hearing Day - cranefly - 05-31-2013

Quote:SAVE YOUR HEARING DAY

When: Always on May 31st

Save Your Hearing Day reminds us that our hearing is vital, and needs to be protected.

Origin of Save Your Hearing Day:

Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. We suspect a medical group or deaf association may have started this day.

One reader suggest that the following event may have something to do with the creation of this special day: "On May 31, 1976, The Who played at the Charlton Athletic Grounds in England and made the Guinness Book of World Records as the loudest rock band ever. Their musical performance measured 76,000 watts and 120 decibels. "

Man, do I need an upgrade on my hearing aids.

DM, have you heard the recent chatter about a breakthrough in curing tinnitus? LC showed me an article a couple days ago, but I don't know where it was.

Hmm, forgets where things are. Maybe you have other problems to look into?

What?

Hmmm. I'm feeling a bit double-teamed.

Which reminds me. I had a dream with Kobe Bryant and DM in it. I've been remiss in reporting it. Will try to do so later today. But as a teaser: DM, Kobe likes me better than he likes you. So there! (Sorry I hurt your feelings.)

Cataracts - Why, yes, I am too young to have them.

But I do.

There is a line from a Bauhaus song that I have repeated to myself for many years:

"I have seen too much, take away my eyes"

Anyway, it's supposedly the most-performed surgery in the world. They pop out your biological lens and pop in a synthetic lens that lets you see through clothing and shoot lasers. Colors are more vibrant and you can slip through 'dimensional doorways'.

Should be interesting.

Re: I'm more broken than you - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 09-15-2013

My father loves his new lenses, hasn't been able to see this well in years. Although he is thirty years older than you.

In Greg centric news, I pulled my right calf muscle today. This goes with the left calf muscle I pulled back in June. I am not a fan of this injury. And despite all the sports I have played through the years, from AYSO Soccer, little league, itramural football, Rugby, Fencing and the Iron Crotch, this is the first time I have sustained this type of injury. I could have lived without it all together. The best part was actually hearing the snap as the muscle pulled. Good times.

we're old.

this was my first week with new job (added to previous jobs, so 3 total). it kicked my large ass. Saturday nght was spent with ibuprofin and a coating of voltaren on my right forearm/elbow. i keep telling myself "it will make me tougher!" but i suspect that it will just make me crankier.

Take that, Diabetes medication - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 09-16-2013

You know, moron, if you lose weight, you don't have to take so many pills to control your condition. Well, I've always been in the I don't like pills camp and yet look at our little boy grow.

But I am trying to reverse that course. To that end I am doing that wonder cure to lose weight. That is the one where you eat less and exercise more. Crazy, I know.

I have been outpacing the amount of drugs I should require to control myself. This led to a series of very nice walks where my blood sugar fell far below the norms. A healthy person has their blood sugar levels between 90 and 120. Mine would hover in the sixties. Once I got into the thirties which was very fun. I emailed my doctor with the glad tidings and she said hey, take fewer pills.

To sum up, I'm on less meds. Yay, me.

Of course there was a way to prevent this whole contretemps in the first place, moron.

My GF has been struggling with insomnia for the past year. You have my sympathy.

I've lived with insomnia all my life - Drunk Monk - 10-06-2013

I think insomnia has been a major factor in my development. I've tried all sorts of remedies. Rx Meds (even OTC) put me down way too deep. Might as well give me a rophy. Done TCM, qigong, self hypnosis, you name it. If things get really bad, I'll take a few melatonins and a shot of whiskey. But only before midnight or I'll pay the next morning. I try not to write as that worsens it. I would work all night but I'll pay the next day or so.

My latest issue is flea bites. We fell behind on our flea meds for our pets and Cruz fleas are robust. I was using a blanket that the pom likes on the sofa and woke up to like 3 dozen bites, mostly in my armpits and chest. But I got one on the nipple and another on the testicles. Awkward. There's thing thing about vegetarians - they don't get bit as much. There's this pic of me & S on our honeymoon in the rainforest of Costa Rica. I'm bundled like a ninja, swatting parasites coming for my eyes. S is next to me, in shorts and a short sleeve top, grinning amusedly. T got like 2 bites. S got none. The dog & cat are small. I eat seafood, so I'm the big fat bag of tasty blood. Sucks (pun intended).
