RE: San Diego Comic-Con - Drunk Monk - 07-24-2023

In the gate line for my flight home.

A long slow line.

yay southwest…

RE: San Diego Comic-Con - Drunk Monk - 07-24-2023

Southwest just announced that poster tubes count as one of your two carry on items and the peeps setting next to me are trying to stuff a fat plushy Pokémon into their already packed luggage.

RE: San Diego Comic-Con - Greg - 07-24-2023

Snap back to reality.

RE: San Diego Comic-Con - Drunk Monk - 07-24-2023

Came home and sat down to a telemeeting with my YMAA boss. My sales are way below goal this month so it was a lecture in sales stats analysis, which he loves but I find tiresome because my data pool is questionable.

Stats, sales, Monday work meetings…

The default world sux.

RE: San Diego Comic-Con - Greg - 07-24-2023

I'm betting Kelly Hu wasn't part of the work call.

RE: San Diego Comic-Con - Drunk Monk - 07-24-2023

If only...

That's different work entirely.

RE: San Diego Comic-Con - Drunk Monk - 04-27-2024

Just placed my order for this year's press pass. Pre-approved. They will be mailing it to me next month - free of charge.

Now I must sort where I'm staying...

RE: San Diego Comic-Con - Drunk Monk - 06-05-2024

Just sorted my flight tickets. I had credit from Alaska because they cancelled our flight to Mexico back in January. So that was free.

Patrick is sorting lodging. He's got a few candidates and put money down on one that he can cancel. It's a mile away, but it's an easy mile. SDCC is about a lot of walking always. I secured him a press pass too.

SDCC is two weeks after Shaolin, followed immediately by RotR the following weekend, and then OSL the weekend after that.

Being on the press list, I'm getting over a half dozen promos and invites from various outlets seeking publicity. Most are pretty obscure comic book things but some are very cool.

This is by far the funniest one so far.

As long as you haven't reverted to pescatarian.

Not yet.

Soon.

Maybe after RotR. And a fat steak...

RE: San Diego Comic-Con - Drunk Monk - 07-23-2024

Reviewing my SDCC game plan for transportation. Fortunately SD is fairly small. We're bunking at an AirBnB that's 1.4 miles from the venue, but I was 1.2 miles away last year at the Wyndham, so it's no big. There's a shuttle stop about a half mile away, and that's a 17 min ride, but I'll have to do that at least once because the stop is just a few blocks from Lofty Coffee, my fav Little Italy cafe.

Just re-read this whole thread. Gears shifting from Shaolin to SDCC. I'm semi-rested/recovered.

I arrive in the afternoon, and will probably Lyft to the pad (aka Chop Hall - feel free to guess why but you'll never get it) to drop my luggage, then head to the Den of Geek party which is in the Gaslamp.

So far, none of the events have grabbed me beyond the Star Trek Hall H one (but I need to look deeper). One of my Kung Fu brothers has been doing SDCC for years and is a major trekkie. We've tentative plans to sit out the Hall H line together.

What kind of international airport doesn’t have a place to change money? Freakin SJC. I had some leftover Taiwanese yuan that I hoped to exchange.

Boarding soon. Had some SJ Mac & cheese for a quick lunch. It’ll surely spike my blood sugar while I’m on the plane. Eager to get to the con…
