RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-05-2023 I went to the library to donate The Black Scorpions. They couldn't take it because they don't have anyone on staff that knows how to do the proper cataloging. They have put in a request to buy the book instead from the local bookseller. It should take them a couple of months to get the book. That seems efficient and cost effective. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Drunk Monk - 07-05-2023 One of the many things YMAA has taught me is the value of the library market. That was totally counterintuitive. You’d think letting the library have your product would decrease sales but it’s quite the opposite. The main impetus for YMAA converting its backlist to hardcover is for the library market. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-06-2023 My post is up on John Scalzi's blog. https://whatever.scalzi.com/2023/07/06/the-big-idea-gregory-lynch-jr/ RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Drunk Monk - 07-06-2023 Very cool RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 07-06-2023 Very cool, indeed. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-06-2023 I am well chuffed. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - thatguy - 07-08-2023 I was chatting with our (Monterey County Public Library) bookmobile librarian this morning who gave me the skinny on how to get the library to order a book. He also said one could donate a copy to him and he could put it thru the acquisition process. I'm going to try the order path first. Stay tuned... --tg RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Drunk Monk - 07-08-2023 There’s a library distribution network. YMAA capitalizes on that. Remind me when we get back and I’ll look into it (although I believe it’s a publisher thing, not something you can access as an individual author). As I mentioned before, it’s astonishingly lucrative. If we can get only a fraction of libraries across the US to purchase a book, even at wholesale, it’s quite a windfall. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-08-2023 Excellent. Thank you. My librarian went the order path. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - thatguy - 07-08-2023 Requested! Sell some books! --tg RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-28-2023 Woo-Hoo! Finally got a review on Amazon. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 08-07-2023 Got my hardcopy today. So fancy! RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 08-07-2023 Sweet. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 08-25-2023 Papa's Book was reviewed in the Journal of America's Military Past. Pull quote: "This book richly details life in a fighter squadron. Readers will learn new details and gain a better understanding of the daily experience outside of the intense combat environment. It is well worth reading this contribution to World War II oral history." RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - King Bob - 08-26-2023 Well done. |
