RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 06-16-2022 But do bots pee? Here we are again at 1:40 am. I crashed early last night, before the sun went down. The previous two nights demanded that. 809: 2 telemeets and a challenging task that I could not solve yesterday. Yuki’s walkers are sick so they cancelled which leaves his walk to me, then Kung Fu tonight. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 06-17-2022 810: Woke to a cacaphony of bird song this morning. Sounds like just one bird with a diverse range of calls. It’s a work day that starts out with some corrections and last minute updates for YMAA, a KFM post, and then a quick SF trip to see an antique Chinese weapons collection for CHSA, then back home for more work. RE: Sheltering in Place - King Bob - 06-17-2022 Working. I'll sneak over to the lab to laser cut some paper for collages. I'm really excited about this method and medium. I can put together an image in a couple of hours that would take me weeks to paint. I can't get the range of colors - yet, I'm thinking of trying watercolor on paper and cutting that - but still very nice. RE: Sheltering in Place - thatguy - 06-17-2022 When I took a Color Theory class at SJSU, they had us by a Pantone pack. IIRC, they were 4x5 silkscreened or painted cards, one for each Pantone color. I recall they were somewhat expensive (as all art supplies are, and combined with a student's budget, ouch!). We were then asked to make collages using these as source material. Kind of like paint by numbers. I don't have them anymore, but something like that might be a nice material to start from, if you can get a reliable, inexpensive source. --tg RE: Sheltering in Place - King Bob - 06-17-2022 Those papers would be a bit too small. My main collage sizes are 5x7, 5x10, 6x8 and 8x8. Right now I'm using 80lb. cardstock (12x12 sheets) because it's about the same weight as a bunch of paper I found that I'm using for backgrounds. (I tried 65lb. paper but it doesn't work as well.) There are a bunch of colors in the cardstock, but solid colors tend to look flat. My found paper has colored threads in it, which gives some depth, but I don't know where it came from. I'll stick with the cardstock until I'm tired of it, which could take a while, then try some experiments. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 06-18-2022 Where are you keeping all these sculptures? I imagine they take up more space than canvases. 811: Work, Kung Fu, more work… Den & Kfm dropped some tasks on me and I’m a bit behind on YMAA because I lost a lot of time in a programming rabbit hole last week. RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 06-18-2022 Breaking in the new Makita Lawnmower. Job hunting. Sulking. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 06-18-2022 I'm always sulking nowadays about something. My wounds aren't as fresh as yours, but the world sucks... Savor that new tool. Nothing like a new tool. RE: Sheltering in Place - King Bob - 06-18-2022 DM - Sculptures are all small, 8 in. high or less, and only about 1 in. deep. I only have about a dozen and they're all on top of the bookcase. When I get too many, I'll put some in the closet or in the bookcase at work. I use canvas panels these days, so they aren't that hard to store. I frame a few but wall space is limited. The rest I lean against the wall, one in front of another. The collages and laser etching are easiest to store, all on paper, so I'm just stacking them up. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 06-19-2022 Happy Father’s Day to any D00M dads which is just me and tg here on the 4M, right? So happy dad day tg! 812: I’m off to SF where Tara has some celebratory afternoon planned. RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 06-19-2022 Excellent. It was a sleep in day! More mowing, watering, sportsball, movies, sloth. RE: Sheltering in Place - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 06-19-2022 I'm going to a big Juneteenth BBQ with H (she's been asked to speak). Should be interesting. RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 06-19-2022 More excellence. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 06-20-2022 &13: Back to work. I was hoping to write a bit just now because I had a late cup of coffee but it didn’t hold. Hit some complications with my Money Heist Korea coverage that I can’t sort rn. I’ll get a fresh start after a night’s sleep. RE: Sheltering in Place - thatguy - 06-20-2022 Happy belated Father's Day DM. I visited my son for a spell, then picked up my daughter from her friends in Boulder Creek, drove to my mom's by way of Hwy 9. Stopped in Saratoga to pick up some Jake's. Got to my moms and ate, then my daughter and I went to the SJ Civic to see Primus' Farewell to Kings show. It was a nice day. Today, we're helping my mom around the house all day. --tg |
