RE: Doom Dogs - Greg - 02-03-2022

It will be a quiet day here at the Lair as we are down one dog. I took Dani into the vet this morning to have a lump removed from her right hip. It's about the size of half a baseball. The doctor does not thinks it's cancer so we aren't going to biopsy it. Still don't know if that is a wise decision or not. Neither dog has eaten as we pulled up the food bowls when we went to bed. They didn't get any treats on the walks which was pissing them off to no end.

Both dogs have lumps. Maeve has one about the size of a pea on her skull. Dani has one on her throat, too. So many lumps. The hip concerned me because it was solid and growing. I'm picking her up this afternoon. She'll be in the cone of shame for a few days.

So this comes up on my Twitter feed.

Time for a Pupdate!

Dani came home from the Vet stoned out of her mind with most of her hindquarters bare and a big new six inch long zipper. At the vet's office, I asked the nurse whether it was cancerous or not and she said if I wanted to know for sure, I could pay the $300 and have it tested. Fortunately, the Vet was nearby and overheard me. He came over to say the surgery went fine. The mass came out in it's own little sack with just a few tendrils to be cut. It was about the size of a baseball. He also said i shouldn't lose any sleep over not getting the biopsy done. There is a chance the tumor will come back.

Last night Dani vacillated between stoned and pissed. She was bumping into everything with the cone of shame. She really wanted to go through the dog door, but no. Eventually, I let her out into the garden where she lay down for a couple of hours. We brought her in when it was bedtime. Maeve has taken advantage of the Dani's misfortune and played dominance games with her. Maeve had to spend some time locked up in the master bedroom.

Dani will be in the cone for 14 days or not. The Queen is going out later to get a soft cone for her. After 14 days, I go back to the vet to get the staples removed. Lots of painkillers and antibiotics until then.

Hoping Dani heals strong. How old is she now?

One of the cutest things ever - watching Yuki wagging his tail vigorously while dreaming…

RE: Doom Dogs - Greg - 02-05-2022

Dani is 11. She's in good shape. She's doing Houdini escapes with her new soft cone. She had off when I woke this morning. Fortunately, the metal staples aren't annoying her too much because they are still in good shape.

Those daily walks in the countryside must doing you all good. Is she walking with you again yet?

RE: Doom Dogs - Greg - 02-05-2022

She is on a break for five days from the walks until she heals a bit. The lack of exercise is making her mental.

RE: Doom Dogs - Greg - 02-07-2022

Just realized that Maeve has the same birthday as composer John Williams. I guess that's where gets her singing from....

RE: Doom Dogs - Greg - 02-09-2022

So much snoring at the moment and it's not mine. Because of the protective donut (shame donut) Dani wears to keep her from chewing on her staples, for whatever reason, has become a tremendously loud snorer. It's amazing. Dani usually sleeps on her back, legs in the air like she just don't care. She can't do that because of the donut. So much loudness. I've been awakened twice now because of the noise. The snoring has to be payback for the surgery.

poor puppers

at least she can share her misery...

RE: Doom Dogs - Greg - 02-14-2022

Pupdate for Monday

The snoring continues but not as much. Dani seems particularly fed up with the shame donut. However, after about a week of trying, she has learned to exit the house through the dog door into the garden wearing the shame donut. For whatever reason, she cannot use the same trick to get back into the house. This has neccesitated several after midnight trips to the backdoor to let Dani into the house. Staples come out on Thursday.
