No - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 03-04-2008 Punkrocker with the Teddybears sells cadillacs. Lust for Life sells Cruise Vacations. Not that I am paying attention to the irony. out of the frying pan - Drunk Monk - 03-06-2008 ED, we're Americans, dammit. We have more prisoners than China. Haven't you been following the news lately? And Nike is an American company (built on Chinese labor, but we won't dwell on that). Wake up and smell the coffee, bro. Quote: The nationwide figures, as of January 1, include 1,596,127 people in state and federal prisons and 723,131 in local jails -- a total 2,319,258 out of almost 230 million American adults.http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/02/28/prison.population.ap/index.html But back OT, now we're cooking with gas... http://youtube.com/watch?v=HIXNUykg2n8 - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 03-08-2008 Yes, but doesn't China have more, shall we say, "churn" through execution? Also, do the labor camps, re-education camps count as "prison"? How accurate are China's numbers? Hate to switch Gears - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 03-23-2008 Do you see how many posts this topic gets? Crazy. I'm watching the Big Tease on the Reelz channel and I saw not one not two, but three martial arts movie trailers. What does it say about the current state of Martial Arts entertainment in America when almost fifteen minutes of a thirty minute show were devoted to MA? Granted one of the trailers was for Kung Fu Panda with martial Sensei Dustin Hoffman and the other was for the lambasted by DM "Redbelt" but the third had Jackie and Jet for The Forbidden Kingdom. You make the call. In the back there was an ad for some 'Martial Arts Noir' books. Through my tears of laughter I saw the glowing endorsement of our very own DM. "Smart, Martial-arts thriller" - Gene Ching, Kung-Fu Magazine. Right above "A writer who understands the deeper side" - Stuart Charno, Kung-Fu Master It was cool seeing DMs name out of the blue like that. I am curious about the book though. I envision passages like "Wei Fung launched himself from the Solid Horse stance and spun his whole body into the Startled Monkey kick landing his left foot against his opponent's cheek hearing the satisfying crunch of bone". Come on DM - give us a full review. BTW I'm not trying to be dismissive. It's just that I'm incredibly cynical about commercial ventures that capitalize on a 'gimmick', like the crappy 'Dead Tour' murder mystery that used Grateful Dead shows as a backdrop for some horrible storytelling. I gave you a full review... - Drunk Monk - 05-19-2008 .. a full review of my cover endorsement http://brotherhoodofdoom.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=691 thanks for noticing that, ed. i'll have to pick up a rolling stone to check it out. meanwhile, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ofa4RV4mKBA&feature=related ttt - Drunk Monk - 06-11-2008 http://www.love-om.com/om-tai-chi.ashx ttt again - Drunk Monk - 06-11-2008 there are two pix on the linked page and i warn you now, they are not for the faint of heart. http://www.siaacademy.com/html/Classes.html You are right - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 06-11-2008 Who could wear tights like that? - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 06-14-2008 Hey, it was "laundry day" and I had nothing else clean to wear. |
