I was thinking the other day how tennis was different from fencing. It was competition against another person without all the bruising. I'm going to revise that statement.

quite a fat hematoma there, bro. hope the swelling has gone down.
coincidentally, i gashed my right temple on a nail sticking out of our front door a few weeks ago, when i went out to get the paper. it was a pretty nasty tear, as it was a blunt nail head, but i got it to seal up again with a lot of direct pressure. now i have a tiny scar, just under an inch long, on my temple. not the sexy villain fencing scar i was hoping for, but i've been telling everyone that it was the result of ninjas. the amusing thing is that most everyone believes me on that.

Or consider as you run for that wide shot, that you are old and uncoordinated. That the ball is really out of your reach. And even if you did return the shot, it doesn't matter. Your opponent has an easy winner on the return because you are lying on the ground clutching your head.

The blood is starting to flow away from the bump on my head. Unfortunately, it's flowing to my left eye. I now have what looks like a massive black eye.

been getting these odd little bites, only on my left forearm. they are always two bite marks, about a 1/4 inch apart. i have maybe half a dozen of them, accrued over the last few weeks, never from home. wtf? am i being victimized by a thumbelina vampirella?
The Heartbreak of Radiation Sickness - cranefly - 02-22-2012
Lady Cranefly went to RadCon last weekend. It's a science fiction convention up in Washington State. The Rad stands for radiation, because it's situated near a nuclear cleanup site. On Monday evening, in the middle of our quantum mechanics class at Stanford, she got very sick. She's been sick ever since, but improving. I kidded her about catching radiation sickness. She's not quite feeling well enough yet to break out into hysterical laughter.
This morning she learned that a friend and a niece who went to RadCon with her are now also sick.
Then just this afternoon she ran across the following article. The mystery deepens.
