I'm not so broken...I was just talking to him on the phone a few hours ago, but now my dad's in the hospital with massive bleeding in the brain (according to my mom). They're going to transfer him to another hospital. On on my way over there now.

No good news. They tried to put in a drain to relieve some of the pressure, but by Saturday they knew it didn't help. I'm helping my mom deal with all the details and we'll have a memorial at some point. To compound things, I'm coping with a wicked sore throat (it's 3:45am and I can't sleep).

We actually have more than our share of gauze. In fact, there's a mission to clean out our storage, gather up all the bandages and donate them to another group. Thanks for asking however.

PPS: Anyone know a bagpiper for hire? I got it in my head last night to surprise my mom by having a piper come down the street playing this particular lament that I really love during the open house. It's about 10 minutes long. Really moving. I think it's called "Lament for the Only Son".
Of course, I don't know what to do with him after that. I think the neighbors will get a bit miffed if we have an all-day piper fest.
Also not sure if it's good form or not since my dad wasn't a Scot, but my mom is, and they raised deerhounds and Skye Terriers forever and frequented a good number of Scottish Games.
