Re: I'm more broken than you - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 09-01-2009

Jee-ZUSS! Is Preston OK? Maeve? Why did Preston bite the foot that feeds him? Details, dammit!

Oh. Are you OK? I know your foot is tough from previous maulings courtesy of broken mirrors.

Re: I'm more broken than you - The Queen - 09-01-2009

Maeve and I are fine: fortunately the pit bull that I was holding back didn't join in the attack. The pit bull that Greg was trying to separate from Preston's neck was not as polite. Greg had to hit him with a brick to make him let go of Preston. Preston has two puncture wounds on his legs, a big knot/bruise on the back of his neck. I'll take him in to the vet later to get him seen to, but first we need to get back to our friends at Kaiser to get Greg's foot re-dressed.

I'm sure all of this will make a very amusing little missive once things calm down and we're able to chill a bit. We did discuss that I failed miserably by failing to bring a camera to take pictures of the wound. I do have my camera packed to take to the re-dressing of the foot 2nd ER visit, scheduled for 30 minutes from now. It won't have the same impact as the original, I'm sure, but given the amount of oozing visible at the edge of the current bandage, no doubt this image will have its own unique appeal.

Re: I'm more broken than you - cranefly - 09-01-2009

Dang. All my damage is internal, hard to photograph.

Did rabies tests/shots enter into any of this? I realize Preston did the biting, but were there any scratches/nips from "the guests?"

Ouch.

Nothing worse than dogfights... - Drunk Monk - 09-01-2009

...cept maybe catfights.

Sorry to hear. People need to care for their pitbulls, that's for damn sure. Hope Preston & Greg heal quickly. Bites are nasty wounds. I'm healing a bite too now. But this isn't about me, is it?

I'll be down for that vicodan next week. ;-)

Re: I'm more broken than you - The Queen - 09-01-2009

I've lost both my boys for the night -- the hospital is keeping Greg; apparently he's not responding the way they want to the antibiotics; and Preston has several bites and scratches; they don't think any bones are broken but they want to put him on IV antibiotics, bring down the swelling in his back leg, check out the punctures and scratches. Taking a short breather to take care of Maeve, let her walk a bt then back to the hospital to bring Greg clothes, books and his laptop, just in case there's a wireless connection.

Re: I'm more broken than you - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 09-02-2009

Holy F*ck! Imagine something being bad enough that they would elect to keep him, rather than just tell him to go away and update his facebook page. I hope he starts responding to the drugs quick-like. I can refer him to my favorite doctor, who always prescribes the same thing: Whisky and bed-rest. The fact that she is a PhD in German Studies and not an MD has no bearing on the subject.

Greg's immune system obviously needs a boost and whisky is just the thing!

What is transpiring with the pit-bulls? Or (more importantly) what is transpiring with their owners? It is monumentally unfair that the dogs will likely pay a big price for the stupidity of their owners.

For the Lynch/Hartman Household: Heart and quick and thorough healing.

Re: I'm more broken than you - The Queen - 09-02-2009

The next door neighbors (a pair of brothers, Andrew and Lee) and their rescued pit bulls, Ozzie and Miko, are fine (despite Greg needing to hit Ozzie with a brick a couple of times to make him let go of Preston). They stopped by last night to see how we were doing and were very worried about Greg and Preston. They said they have made certain that it will be impossible for Ozzie and Miko to dig under the fence ever again and regardless, will not leave the dogs outside unsupervised any more.

Just got back from visiting Greg, he's in "wait and see" mode and having a lovely time listening to his roommate bitch about his cancer and wanting to leave. Undoubtedly he'll write a very clever, amusing missive that you will all enjoy, using phrases like "incontinence cleanser." (I won't steal any more of his good lines, and will leave you to wonder about that one.) Greg was getting yet another IV antiobiotic drip while I was there but talked hopefully that the hospital is so overcrowded and short of beds, he's hoping the podiatrist will release him tonight. Don't know if that's a possibility or wishful thinking, but I look forward to the call and will go spring him if I can.

Preston apparently did well at the vet's - spoke with the vet's office this morning and they said I can come and get him later this afternoon. They've cleaned up his wounds, given him antibiotics and pain meds, made sure he doesn't have anything broken or damaged or blocked, etc. Another two hours and I'll go pick him up. Now all I have to figure out is how to keep Maeve from beating him up once I've brought him home.

Will keep you all apprised. Or if you want to chat with the bored man, you can call him on his cell at 323-804-3025.

Going to see if I can upload the wound pictures -- he seemed anxious to share them with you all.

Edited to add: figured it out -- posted in the "I'm more bitten than you" thread.

yeah, this thread was intended to be about old fart issues.. - Drunk Monk - 09-02-2009

...dog bites have nothing to do with old farts. young farts can be bitten by dogs.

Re: I'm more broken than you - thatguy - 09-02-2009

dog farts can be worse than old farts....

When the g-man gets home, try not to mix up Preston and his medications. It could turn into some Disney-esque misadventure with Preston posting here and g-man barking at the postman and napping a lot.

Get well soon...

Oh, and speaking of Disney, no one's commented on the mouse potentially taking over Marvel?

I pulled a muscle in my ass - Drunk Monk - 11-25-2009

Like I said in the NA thread (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1196&p=10601#p10601) I pulled an ass muscle. It happens in martial arts. You get all sorts of weird groin pulls. Ass pulls are particularly nasty because if they cramp, you just sit and wince.

Well, this one was different. I noticed it on Sunday, probably a result of Friday's practice. Didn't think much of it until that night when I kept feeling like I needed to take a dump. It woke me up every hour and I'd go for a squat and nothing. The next day, I was still suffering and I had to do the Rain interview above. I had been looking forward to spending the afternoon in SF, but had to stop on the way because the dump urge was commanding me to obey or be soiled every half an hour or so. The interview was at the Ritz Carlton, where there's no where to park, so I had to hike some hills. It was like this tactical game in S.F., constantly figuring out where the next convenient dump spot might be and maneuvering there for a squat and maybe a tiny dollop of evacuation. Using this method, I dotted my way from Union Square to Chinatown. The interview was posh - the promoters laid out a nice cheese tray, drinks, et.al., but I only partook in a pelligrino. All I can say is the Ritz Carlton has some of the nicest shitters in the neighborhood, so clean and comfortable. After that, I headed over to the Fillmore, continuing my half hour rest stops, until later that evening when the pull let up.

Last night I took some rx muscle relaxants I had left over from my various neck meds. Today I had my chiro and my chiro dr. said that ass pulls can manifest so, which was a relief because this has never happened to me like this before. She said that there is an internal manipulation that would require her to glove up, but I declined.

I'm going to try practice tonight, but I'll probably drop some more muscle relaxants tonight too.

Persistent dump urge. ow.

:butthead:

My father and I agree, no stool softeners.

Re: I'm more broken than you - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 11-26-2009

What kind of martial-art practice makes you sprain your sphincter? Is Master Tu, um, expanding his repertoire? I'll bet that is one video that crosses various genres...

The problem is high kicks - Drunk Monk - 11-30-2009

Humans weren't really made to kick so high. That tugs all those down-there muscles in all sorts of wacky directions, especially when you aren't naturally flexible, which I never was.

I did find a solution. Passing gas alleviates the dump urge, so just eat a lot of gassy food. For me, that consisted of garlic mahi mahi and tofurky - not as nuclear an aftereffect as a hulkburger through a yeti colon, but enough to keep the tubes bubbling and the urge sated.

I'm beginning to wonder if the asymmetry of fencing lunges have a similar effect. I would think that would make the old poop chute lob-sided on a muscular level. Yo, DOOM fencers - Does your poop list to the left or right?

What are you a Rockette? Fight shorter people or just aim for the nads.

That's me - a shaolin rockette - Drunk Monk - 12-01-2009

Flying kicks. What a stupid concept. But man, if you ever landed on, that would be the bomb.

Just be grateful that I restrained myself from all the gory details of the hemorrhoids that ensued from pushing when there was nothing there to push. I was sorely tempted to go there (pun intended).
