Sense and Sensibility - Drunk Monk - 10-22-2026

A lovely new version. The cast was largely unfamiliar to me although Stacy recognized someone from Outlander. HP factor 1 (Nrs Dursley) who kills it as Mrs. Jennings. Middleton was played by a dude who was doing his best Jack Black, which I kept thinking Jack coulda played this role but then thought that it would just be Jack being Jack. I liked the two main Dashwood sisters - they were both plain, yet beautiful, and could cry really well. Overall, the cast handled Austen's eloquent verbosity, which like Shakespeare, can be a mouthful and difficult not to sound ridiculous. Most of the film was in purple hues, with moments of blue and green, until the end when it it was all sunny and golden. Lots of rain and lush environments. Mostly a downer, overlooking the humor that was exemplified by the Ang Lee version, except for the duel, which was entertaining. Lots of dogs. The filmmakers love dogs.
D00M recommended if you're into Austen.
