Kin-dza-dza (1986) - thatguy - 12-15-2025

Watched on Tubi. This Russian sci-fi film answers the question: what if you took the look of Barbarella, stripped out anything remotely sexy or erotic, mixed in the sensibilities of Waiting for Gadot and shot it in a landscape just down the road from Burning Man. If you've ever seen The Bedsitting Room, it's got that kind of vibe as well.

A guy gets sent to the grocery by his wife, on the way, he encounters a young Georgian man who says there is another guy right here who is barely clothed, says he's an alien. They both go to help and are accidentally whisked away to his planet (without him). They spend the rest of the film trying to understand their situation and get back home.

I started this a few months ago based on some obscure recommendation of cult classics or something. I didn’t get far but thought I might come back to it someday. Then I kinda forgot about it.
