Jay Kelly (2025) - Greg - 12-07-2025

Jay Kelly is an actor unsure of who is anymore in the world. He feels the need to reconnect with a family that doesn't want to connect with him. There are flashbacks to his early life that shows how he got to this place. In it all he's kind of a dick.

As the Queen stated, about ten minutes in, this film is really depressing. And it was. There as still almost two hours to go.

It's got a really good cast headed by Clooney and the obvious parallels between Clooney's life and Kelly's are used all the time for a certain meta effect. Adam Sandler plays his agent in a supremely unfunny role. Laura Dern and Billy Crudup also make appearances as publicist and old friend.

It was kind of a heavy handed melodrama serving as a cautionary tale to superstar actors.

Being quotable and all, I think you would be the one most at risk of celebrity

Indeed. I am the D00Mstar. But not a superstar. Not yet. And I’m running out of time…
