The Boxer's Omen (1983) - Drunk Monk - 04-04-2023
I can't recall now who recommended this to me. It must've been some article I read because I made a note on my phone. I'm glad I did. This film. Man, oh, man. This film.
It's a Shaw Brother's Hong Kong horror Cat III. Cat III were porn and really gross horror. This is both. It starts with a ring match where the villain is a Thai boxer challenging Hong Kong (and the Thai is Bolo Yeung). After the match, there's a gratuitous topless scene. I know some of you here saw Kentucky Fried Movie. There's that gratuituos topless scene in the shower where one of the Zucker bros is banging an extremely well endowed topless actress and pressing her boobs up against the shower door. You know the one. Yeah, well, this film goes there. Not for laughs, for ... titulation. From there the film gets weird.
It's Thai witchcraft v Chinese Buddhism - a sorcerer's battle pre-cgi. And it goes so many places. There's genuine footage of Thailand and Katmandu that are simply fascinating. There's bat demons, skeleton demons, and spider demons - all puppets and costumed mechanical wind up toys. There's totally cheesy sets and then real temples. Then there's some real gators - huge gators - and some serious cobra action. There's gross out scenes of animal intestines, rooster decaptitaton, and lots of vomiting. Then there's this wild depiction of enlightenment (or at least Buddhist empowerment) that would make a trippy projection at some EDM fest.
You know, I don't want to spoil this anymore than I already have.
Highly D00M recommended. But be warned - have your sedatives at the ready.

KF Movie ==> Catholic School Girls in Trouble. The scene was cut when it screened in Ireland.
