Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) - Drunk Monk - 03-31-2023 Antonio & Salma reprise their roles for yet another film from the Shrek world. Puss is on his last life so he’s on a quest to find the wishing star. He’s being pursued by Death which is a giant twin sickle wielding dire husky. I’m not sure why this didn’t work for me as I’m partial to the Shrek world and this had all the locks and chops of a Dreamworks production. It was a clever play of some more classic tropes. I got the bit of a feels at the end as thing resolved neatly, poetically and dramatically. The plays on fairy tales were clever and funny. The Easter eggs were quick and plentiful. It did lack a good nostalgic soundtrack. There’s swordfights and some funny moments. Maybe my head wasn’t in the right place for this tonight. It’s been a traumatic week. Not D00M recommended. RE: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) - Greg - 05-20-2023 Seen it on the plane. It was fine. Most of the jokes were in the trailer. But I really liked Big Jack. He was the best bit. I think the themes were a bit muddled. Couldn't quite get a straight line on the Goldilocks and her three bears story because their motivations seemed to change. But, yeah. Not great. But serviceable to kill time on an airplane ride. |
